About the opportunity

The Digital Experience Lead oversees our CX/UX/UI/Creative Designers who operate within our WaveSpace studio environments, working within Agile teams to take a client from business insight, to concept, to code, to market in a compressed timeframe as well as working within our client project teams to execute Agile sprints to deliver world’s best digital processes, products and platforms over various timescales. Through the use of Design Thinking and User Centred Design practices that include information architecture, visual design, interaction design, research, and prototyping our Designers drive our lean product development approach and produce interactive solutions that deliver business objectives in a useful, usable and engaging manner.


Key Responsibilities:

Regardless of the project and the environment, our Digital Experience Lead must provide a strong and critical voice for design of the experience and/or product direction as our teams solve for users. Bottom line: you are responsible for ensuring good design; owning the end-to-end user experience and business outcomes of design-led product development in EY. Accordingly, you must ensure our Designers are the very best by leveraging solid experience in Design/Human-Centred Design with a high degree of commercial acumen to develop detailed brand architectures, user journeys, information architectures, wireframes, mock-ups, clickable prototypes, and fully fledged products and experiences while working within tight business deadlines, across multiple projects and client, to deliver real business results.

Digital Experience Leads both design and facilitate workshops, working directly with our digital consultants, Scrum team peers, clients and their customers/users to analyse pain points, understand end-user needs, document user storyboards through both digital and physical environments, and co-create digital-native processes, products, platforms and experiences. Once concepts are formed and agreed, you lead our designers while playing a hands-on role in EY’s Agile product development teams owning the user research, supporting the Product Owner with functional backlog creation and prioritisation, as well as the design and testing of the product and overall user experience.

Skills and Attributes for success

In addition to overseeing and quality controlling direct client work, our Digital Experience Leads are key contributor to the positioning and sale of our digital consulting services by teaming with our Digital Strategy and Digital Innovation Leads to tell our story through proposals and supporting materials across various media. Furthermore, as a senior member of a new and fledgling Digital Practice, this role will be a leading voice in both the direction of the team, and in the formation of the EY Design Community. As such, you will help lead the definition and delivery of a single set of design practices, approaches, and tools to support the development of a digitally enabled organisation.

To qualify for the role, you must have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Industrial Design/Graphic Design/Fine Arts or related fields that help you make sense from chaos.

  • Over 10 years of experience in the application of design to real world problems that impact consumers and employees alike and can traverse the spectrum from strategy and design, to build and activation.

  • Be comfortable leading experience and product design teams and projects in delivery formulation and execution as well as playing the role of a lead designer across multiple client engagement simultaneously.

  • Well versed in the scoping, positioning and sale of integrated design and consulting services to the C-suite and D-suite of enterprise clients across major industries including Financial Services, Insurance, Consumer Goods, Real Estate, Retail and Government/Public Sector, amongst others.

  • A proven, demonstrable track record in leading customer-driven transformation and, digital native product and experience teams that are obsessed with creating solutions that users love and that deliver tangible business outcomes.

  • Passion about human-centric design and agile product delivery methodologies. You evangelise these methods as ways of interpreting the world and creating, capturing and delivering value.

  • A proven self-starter and leader with demonstrated experience establishing developing and growing teams, accounts and businesses. You have firm beliefs about design principals, practices and products that help get the most out of your team and every project.

  • While enjoy being a leader and embrace the responsibility for delivering sales and client satisfaction, you are deeply curious about users, product and design. You obsess about the problems you and your teams are solving and you have no hesitation to pour yourself into the details and be hands on. You are passionate about your craft and you never want to be ‘just a manager’.
