Job Summary:

We have a career opportunity for a tax senior manager in our Real Estate practice. This individual will lead and manage multiple challenging tax projects simultaneously and will provide quality tax-planning services to our diverse clients in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate a broad understanding of and ability to master increasingly complex tax concepts

  • Demonstrate considerable technical real estate tax and transactional skills, and effectively apply tax knowledge to client situations

  • Build and manage client relationships and demonstrate thorough knowledge of the real estate business

  • Provide high-quality service and time-sensitive advice that complies with our clients’ expectations in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment

  • Demonstrate professionalism through a positive and cooperative attitude and by maintaining the confidential and proprietary nature of client relationships and related work products

  • Prepare memoranda, opinions, private letter rulings and other documents for submission to the Internal Revenue Service or Treasury Department and review real estate-related agreements

  • Build technical competencies by keeping current on trends, developments and technical authorities, while applying them to complex situations

  • Help develop and guide staff by providing effective performance feedback and making certain team responsibilities are consistent with skills and goals

  • Contribute to the overall success of the team by developing a thorough understanding of EY methodologies and tools to enhance service delivery

To qualify, candidates must have:

  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field and approximately more than seven years of related work experience; or a graduate degree in Tax or Law and approximately more than six years of related work experience

  • A valid US CPA or progress toward a CPA license or licensed attorney designation

  • Minimum of six years of broad real estate-related tax consulting experience in business or industry required

  • Strong experience in tax compliance, partnership taxation, real estate investment trusts, partnership allocations, acquisition planning and structuring required

  • Proven experience with a diverse client group required (e.g., developer or owner, publicly traded real estate investment trusts, private equity, opportunity funds, pension funds and hotels)

  • Comprehensive technical and writing skills

  • Five years of experience leading teams, while demonstrating strong managerial, organizational, written and verbal communication skills

  • Business development experience in the market is a plus
