Qualifications:

Job Summary:

Delivers the primary services and support activities associated with EY Assist (the firm’s employee assistance program) with limited supervision. This includes one-on-one counseling and delivery of clinical services, training, program marketing and communications, research, and professional and public speaking about EY Assist best practices. In addition, the specialty of this position includes being versed in the use of analytics to assess the evolving emotional health needs of the partners and staff of the firm, and the ability to drive solutions to address those needs.

Essential Functions of the Job:

  • Leads EY Assist’s efforts to empirically analyze the emotional health of the firm’s partners and staff and contribute to initiatives addressing such findings.

  • Contributes to the management of the EY Assist vendor(s) providing well-being services to partners and staff according to vendor performance objectives.

  • Provides clinical assessment, referral and follow-up services to all levels of individuals and family clients at the firm. This includes job performance referrals and fitness-for-duty evaluations.

  • Provides consultation to senior management of the firm, People Leaders and People Consultants, Global Security, and the General Counsel’s Office in the resolution of high profile cases and critical incidents, along with the Director of EY Assist and the EY Assist Supervising Associate.

  • Conducts on site critical incident debriefings in response to a workplace tragedy or community traumatic event.

  • Remains current regarding research and best practices related to well-being primarily, but also child and elder care, parenting, special needs, addiction disorders, and executive performance management, among others.

  • Contributes to the marketing of EY Assist services internally to the firm to achieve utilization levels that result in a favorable return-on-investment.

  • Possesses a high level of specialized knowledge of EAP.

  • Evaluates and recommends to the Director of EY Assist those services, coverage and options available through occupational medicine, wellness, and other consulting companies to determine which programs would best meet the firm’s goals and caring culture.

Analytical/Decision Making Responsibilities:

  • Possesses deep knowledge in own area of EAP, occupational medicine and well-being, and works independently on non-recurring projects with limited direction.

  • This position has national or Americas scope, as does the Director of EY Assist and the EY Assist Supervising Associate.

  • Highly seasoned and recognized for their superior knowledge within and outside their functional area. “At the table’ with senior leadership of the firm when key business issues are discussed affecting their partner/employee population.

  • Extensive clinical knowledge and experience must be applied to each human dilemma presented to EY Assist. Must have the ability to respond decisively to emergency situations, deploying the appropriate resources and guidance, often remotely, to those in the immediate location of the emergency. Calm restraint, leadership, and the ability to make good decisions under stress is critical.

  • Decision-making authority is fairly broad within EY Assist. Other decisions are guided by the Director of EY Assist.

  • Reputation as a leader in the EAP field.

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:

  • Advanced degree(s) and licensure to perform clinical work: social work, counseling, or psychology, and nursing or occupational medicine

  • Expertise in at least one specialty area of behavioral health practice, such as chemical dependency, post-traumatic stress, eating disorders, gambling, etc.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and develop positive working relationships with both internal and external resources and clients

  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, set priorities, organize, implement, and administer effectively in all areas of accountability

  • Experience working with a global EAP is preferred

Supervision Responsibilities:

  • Receives only general direction as to overall jobs and objectives. Work is reviewed only for results obtained.

  • Contributes to the annual review of the Supervising Associate and the EY Assist Administrative Assistant.

Other Requirements:

  • Frequently emergencies such as the serious illness or injury, death of a partner or staff, or a natural disaster, act of war, etc. that affects EY people will require overtime to deliver EY Assist services. Also, calls from clients will come in the evening or on week-ends. The EY Assist Assistant Director is expected to respond immediately.

  • Overtime required year-round to meet heavy demands of the role.

  • Week-end on call responsibility to triage requests to the internal EY Assist staff or initiate the response to crises will occur approximately once/month. While the demand is minimal, there is the responsibility to remain vigilant.

  • Ability to travel approximately 25% of the time.

Education:

  • Advanced degree (MA, MSW, Ph.D.) in social work, psychology, or counseling

  • Advanced degree in occupational medicine or nursing (MD, RN)

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years post master’s related experience

Certification Requirements:

  • State licensure in a mental health discipline

  • State certification in medical discipline

  • State certification in chemical dependency treatment desirable

  • CEAP – Certified Employee Assistance Professional desirable
