Our Contract Risk Services (CRS) team assists clients with evaluating and managing the compliance and performance of their contractual obligations. This includes evaluation and assessment of business partners, alliances, suppliers and vendors, including advertising and media agencies. As a CRS professional in the Northeast Region, you will be responsible for planning and leading the execution of contract audits and assessments, drafting reports, managing client relationships, coaching and developing junior team members and participating in business development efforts.

The opportunity

Within EY's Risk practice, the CRS Senior participates in and supervises multiple client engagement teams and other related activities. Contract Risk covers an array of services, including contract audits of third-party contracts of media and ad agencies, suppliers/vendors, alliances/joint ventures and royalty/licensing arrangements. The team Senior may also participate in a range of other third party risk-related projects such as pre-audit support services, contract performance management, contract benchmarking, contract harmonization, contract analytics, spend analytics, AP analytics, T&E analytics, invoice validation and purchase price validation.

Engagements are advisory in nature and vary considerably in size and complexity. The goal of our approach is to provide direct and tangible cost savings and revenue recovery opportunities, identify marginal performance, improve the control mechanism across departments and vendor relationships, and develop a clear and quantifiable measurement system that is linked to critical success factors. As a result, our clients achieve better alignment with their business partners.

Your key responsibilities

We identify and assess improvement opportunities to promote consistency and reliability throughout the contract compliance process. As an objective third party, EY can independently review processes and help mitigate the risk of under reporting or under collection, while protecting valuable business relationships and intangible assets. This professional serves as a fieldwork leader.

The successful candidate will work with client personnel to analyze, evaluate and enhance processes, and they will assist clients’ Risk professionals in performing CRS engagements.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Significant experience in applying relevant technical knowledge in at least one of the following engagements: (a) third-party audits, (b) internal or operational audits, (c) third-party risk consulting projects

  • Project management skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and presentation skills

  • Leadership, teamwork and client service skills

  • Demonstrated integrity within a professional environment

To qualify for the role you must have

  • A bachelor's degree and approximately 3 years of related work experience, or a graduate degree and approximately 2–3 years of related work experience

  • A degree in business, accounting or finance, or a related discipline

  • A minimum of 18 months of experience working as an auditor or risk adviser for a public accounting firm, a professional services firm or within the industry

  • Available to travel outside of assigned office location at least 50% of the time, plus commute within the region (where public transportation often is not available) and must work in excess of standard hours when necessary; valid passport required

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Experience with any the following functions: procurement, contract management, vendor management, royalty accounting and alliance/collaboration/joint venture management

  • Experience in any the following industries: retail and consumer products, pharmaceuticals, life sciences, biotech and manufacturing

CPA, CIA certification is desired; non-certified hires are required to become certified to be eligible for promotion to manager.
