The UK Legal team is well established and highly regarded. Led by our General Counsel, Lisa Cameron (who is also Managing Partner, Risk Management and a member of the UK Board), we comprise 20 lawyers supported by 2 paralegals. The UK Legal team also forms part of a Global legal function.

The opportunity

We need a commercial contracts lawyer to support the growth of our business in line with our plan to make EY the leading global professional services organisation by 2020 (Vision 2020). Our high performing and ambitious in-house legal team enjoys a diverse and challenging workload, supporting that Vision by the prompt delivery of pragmatic, adaptable and commercial legal advice.

Your key responsibilities

You will be responsible for drafting and negotiating a wide variety of commercial contracts, including IT; managed services and outsourcing; master services agreements and global framework agreements; Government and public sector. You will also be required to work autonomously and innovatively to support the legal issues connected with the development of and risk mitigation for our new service offerings and other strategic business initiatives and objectives.

To qualify for the role you must have

  • Extensive experience as a Commercial Contracts lawyer

  • Be qualified to practice Law in the UKI

  • Ability to provide practical legal advice and support with a high degree of professionalism in a fast-paced environment and to establish a high degree of credibility, respect and trust at all levels.

  • Experience gained either in a reputable City law firm (or equivalent) and/or in-house.

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Knowledge of managed services, IT, Intellectual Property and/or the needs of technology clients

Capable of the swift review and analysis of the legal risk in lengthy contracts, drafting mitigation measures where possible. A skilled and insightful drafter of clauses and contracts. A desire to get alongside our business, offering legal insight and support on the development of new service offerings. Someone who relishes disruption in a fast paced business and is stimulated by the fact that no two days are the same.
