The opportunity

The Assignment Services practice within People Advisory Services provides services to a wide range of multinational companies based in the UK, EMEIA and globally. The service offering covers end-to-end assignment management administration and policy development, from the creation of cost estimates, balance sheet calculations, payroll instructions and assignment letters, to the principal point of contact role with our clients' assignees and their HR contacts during their relocation and ongoing assignment, and the coordination and management of all the various third party relocation providers. The service covers all mobility policies; permanent, long-term, short-term, commuter and similar variations.

The practice is part of EY’s integrated mobility offering, which covers expatriate tax and social security compliance and consulting, immigration and assignment services and relocation; a true one-stop-shop.

As part of our continued growth strategy we are looking to recruit an Advisor into the Assignment Services team. This innovative role will focus on operational excellence as well as demonstrating the depth and breadth of our integrated service offering.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Review of assignment documentation (cost estimates, balance sheets, letters of assignment, etc) including the calculation of assignment compensation

  • Ongoing assignee contact in relation to their assignment, including assignment briefings

  • Regular client contact with HR to support case management and compliance

  • Compliance and relocation supplier coordination

  • Coordinating activities performed by and liaising with the offshore processing centre

  • Review of reporting and billing

  • Coordination of the day-to-day operations for their portfolio of engagements, including knowledge and understanding of the engagement financials

  • Supporting their engagements in accordance with the agreed contractual scope, and identification of opportunities for out of scope work or of the potential for scope drift

  • Awareness of, and delivery of services in line with, contractual KPIs

  • Identifying issues or challenges and proactively escalating them to management

To qualify for the role you must have

  • A full understanding of the assignment life-cycle and scope specifically relating to clients

  • The ability to create and implement process improvements and promote best practice

  • The ability to apply comprehensive knowledge of client specific policies to deliver advice to the corporate client and assignee population

  • An understanding of assignment compensation and benefits planning, payroll and pension issues, and the ability to explain / justify the methodology behind calculations and their application

  • An understanding of relocation issues and the services provided for under client policy

  • The ability to identify potential tax and social security issues in the development and application of assignment policy and the review of standard assignment documentation

  • An ability to provide clear and concise written and verbal global mobility technical advice

  • An understanding of the corporate challenges involved in international assignments

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • The ability to identify potential tax and social security issues in the development and application of assignment policy and the review of standard assignment documentation

  • Understanding of trends in global mobility and of assignment policies, with the ability to provide insight to clients

  • Awareness of EY services and understanding of how these could be beneficial to their clients

  • An understanding of the importance of quality and Risk Management within EY
