FSO Restructuring team

After the financial crisis a new landscape for managing bank failure through resolution has been developed. There also remains an overhang of non-performing loans within the European banking system. The EY Bank Restructuring team advice clients on bank crises, restructuring and loan sales. Our clients are Governments, Regulators, Banks and Investors.

The Role

The Executive - Restructuring will support the delivery of assignments alongside multi-disciplinary teams from EY involving structuring, accounting, valuation, business modelling and operating models.

The role requires a broad base of financial services experience, including an understanding of

  • A bank balance sheet, profit and loss account and drivers of value

  • Resolution, restructuring and loan sales

  • Accounting principles for provisioning, recognition of losses and IFRS9

The Executive - Restructuring under supervision would be expected to:

  • Analyse bank data relating to the balance sheet, P&L and loan performance

  • Build financial models to analyse restructuring or sales scenarios

  • Interview and/or interact with clients to obtain relevant data and information

  • Write reports or presentations for use with clients

  • Support business development activities

Role requirements

The candidate must have:

  • Knowledge of the European banking sector and trends facing the industry

  • Technical proficiency in manipulation of data and financial modelling

  • Proficiency in writing reports and presentations using MS Office

  • Awareness of different sales/deleveraging techniques such as securitisation

  • Knowledge of banking concepts such as MREL, TLAC, Basel III

  • Understanding of a bank's operations and key functions

  • An ACA or similar qualification

  • While the role is based in London, the role will require substantial travel

The following experience or capability would be advantageous:

  • Familiarity with databases and coding skills

  • An advanced maths or scientific qualification

  • Fluency in one or more European languages
