EY’s Financial Services Business Modelling team, has grown significantly in recent years. To support our ambitious plans for the future, we are now looking to strengthen our team at Senior Executive level.

Working in Business Modelling, you will get the opportunity to work with major corporate and private equity clients, investment banks, funds and government departments providing them with financial modelling support and advice on a wide variety of transaction and advisory assignments, including:

  • Mergers, acquisitions and divestitures – buy-side and sell-side

  • Financial restructuring

  • Planning, budgeting and forecasting

  • Decision support

  • Resource modelling and optimisation

  • Regulatory submissions

Any major or complex transaction or decision will require a financial model which has been designed and developed to meet specific requirements. We work closely with our clients to build and review sophisticated financial models to execution a range of transactions and support planning. Success in this environment requires a passion for financial modelling along with exceptional client handling and communication skills.

Although our team is London-based, we operate as international team and many of our engagements involve multi-national clients. This role will therefore most likely require some travel within the UK and could require overseas working from time to time.

Your key responsibilities

As a Senior Executive within Financial Modelling you're likely to spend your day to day supporting the Assistant Directors with business development, coaching junior members of the team and also designing, building and testing integrated financial models for transaction related-projects or even for forecasting purposes for our clients. You’ll need a strong knowledge of Excel and how it can be applied to corporate finance and be flexible and adaptable when it comes to different projects. Reviewing financial models is key too (under supervision) and you’ll arrive at preliminary conclusions to ensure we provide the best service for our clients.

Skills and Attributes for success

  • Strong Excel Skills - designing and building models as well as testing them; incorporating operational, tax, accounting and financing aspects across a range of sectors. Develop a strong understanding of Excel and how it can be applied to corporate finance

  • Stakeholder & People Management - every day you’ll interface with multiple stakeholders across different functions to identify underlying business drivers and appreciate context of the transaction and the client's business issues

  • Logical thinking - you’ll apply logical thinking and creative problem solving skills to support resolution of issues

  • Attention to Detail - you’ll review financial models under supervision and arrive at preliminary conclusions

  • Communication - Communicating effectively with the engagement manager, the client, and the junior members of the team that you will coach, in a concerted effort towards delivering work products of the highest standard

  • Support - assisting senior team members in developing new business as well as developing more junior members of the team

To qualify for the role you must have

  • Proven experience within Financial Modelling, with a number of years of commercial, client-facing work experience

  • Experience of Financial Services businesses and an understanding of the key issues facing our clients in this industry

  • Strong commercial awareness and an ability to identify the factors that drive financial performance

  • A passion for Financial Modelling; highly motivated, numerate and a logical thinker are all key to the roleIdeally, you’ll also have

  • Strong interpersonal skills and previous experience of working within a similar team; people management skills and previous evidence of coaching/counselling others.

  • Financial modelling experience
