Within the professional services environment, the application of risk management procedures is fundamental to the successful delivery of our client services and promotion of our brand. Risk management encompasses the processes that we have in place to ensure that we support service quality, contain the threat of litigation, limit damage to our reputation and achieve full fee recovery.
At EY, the Risk Management (RM) and Legal teams are responsible for the promotion and support of risk management within the business. The aim is to ensure that the firm complies with the rules and regulations imposed either by external regulators or by EY Global in relation to the conduct of our business.
The group is structured with a central group of four teams: Independence, Legal, Risk, and Enterprise Risk Management) and a network of specialists working within service lines (“Service Line Quality”), located throughout the UK and Ireland. The Central RM and Legal teams have approximately 50 members of staff.
This is a fantastic opportunity to support the Risk team in fulfilling its responsibilities to execute EY’s risk strategy, policies and processes.
Your Key Responsibilities:
The individual will gain a broad understanding of all topics dealt with by RM, with the opportunity to develop expertise in specific areas, such as financial crime risk management. The role provides an opportunity for an ambitious candidate to develop and progress within the firm. The individual will report to the Senior Risk Manager.
Your main responsibilities will include:
Anti-Money Laundering (“AML”) & Sanctions: specialist support to the firm’s Money Laundering Reporting Officer in implementing the firm’s policy, responding to requests for information and queries from the business, developing guidance and training material and supporting the development and operation of the AML system.
Data Protection: support to the firm’s Data Protection Officer in implementing firm policy, responding to requests for information and dealing with queries within the business.
Client and Engagement Acceptance and Continuance: providing specialist support to the business in the execution of acceptance and continuance procedures – training, answering queries, and administration of related global tools/systems.
Service Line Quality network: handling routine risk queries and assistance with coordinating the network, including dissemination of new and updated policy and guidance. Coordination of network meetings including the production of agendas and minutes from all meetings.
Annual Quality Assessments for Partners: general support for the process, which includes collection of data, production and issuance of assessment reports to the partner and director group and coordination of service line grading meetings.
Risk management support for Core Business Services (CBS): handling risk queries from CBS functions such as Finance, Procurement, HR, Brand, Marketing and Communications and following up on non-compliance with processes.

Service orientated and commercially-minded at solving problems.
A genuine and proactive interest in becoming a subject matter expert in risk management
The ability to communicate with colleagues at all levels.
Good organisational skills and some experience of project management.
To qualify for the role you must have
University degree or professional qualification, preferably in accountancy, company secretary, legal or risk/compliance.
Previous experience of regulatory or compliance work, preferably from a professional services firm, would be an advantage.
Adaptable and flexible with good team working skills and the ability to multi-task.
Ability to build strong working relationships with service lines and develop an excellent understanding of their business.
Ability to work to pre-determined deadlines and meet objectives under pressure.
English language skills - excellent written and verbal communication.
