EY’s Financial Services Tax practice provides tax advisory, transactions, compliance and improvement services to a wide variety of clients in the Financial Services market.
Our Financial Services Tax Performance Improvement Advisory team sits within our EMEIA Financial Services Tax Advisory practice and is a successful team of tax and technology and process improvement specialists who work with a wide variety of Financial Services organisations. This is a rapidly expanding area of tax driven by a combination of expanding complexity regulatory requirements and the need for Tax processes and functions to evolve to adopt new technologies and ways of working.
This offers an exciting opportunity for motivated individuals with a background in IT and Tax performance improvement to join EY’s fast growing and highly successful Financial Services Tax TPA team. We are looking for experienced and enthusiastic team members to be part of a growing and dynamic specialist practice. This role would suit someone coming from a large consulting firm or industry role that’s looking to widen their skill set and have more, broader client exposure.
Your key resp onsibilities
Working closely with senior client stakeholders and delivery teams to drive Tax process and technology change from solution design to implementation. More specifically:
Defining and shaping innovative solutions for clients through the application of latest technologies
Defining business and IT technical requirements to support design through to build of solutions
Awareness and knowledge of key regulatory changes impacting Tax and the wider business functions
Understanding of the key control requirements across operational processes and IT development / deployment
Assisting teams to analyse and improve existing processes using IT e.g. workflow, robotics, ‘best of breed’ third party tools and digital applications
Responsible for high quality delivery of advice and solutions to major Financial Services clients, ensuring management of risk and reputation
Working with broader EY network on knowledge sharing, pursuits and delivery
Producing project budgets and timetables that are efficient and cost effective, tracking and maintaining the status of client engagements and pursuits
Skills and attributes for success
Strong, broad technical industry knowledge and hands-on experience in the Financial Services IT, software and applications.
Excellent report writing, communication, interview skills and presenting ability
Ability to provide practical approaches and solutions to situations
Ability to identify areas of risk, know when to refer upwards, demonstrate good judgement, objectivity and independence
Strong client relationship management skills with the ability to understand client’s needs and deliver quality outputs to clients
To qualify for the role you must have
Knowledge of customer tax reporting regulations and associated operational processes is highly advantageous
Practical experience of running process and IT projects or workstreams across all phases of the design, build / develop, test and deploy lifecycle
Experience of delivering Tax change and IT projects in Banking Capital Markets and Asset Management sub-sectors would also be highly advantageous
Be able to work in a team based and consultancy environment
In-depth technical expertise in your discipline and understanding the commercial/technical issues faced in the Financial Service sector
Ideally, you’ll also have
Ideally suited to candidates with a professional services background (Big 4, mid-tier or consulting firm) or from industry
Preferably be ACA/CTA/CPA qualified
