EY Tax Policy team works with clients to develop proposals for changes in tax policy that can be taken to government, both in the UK and overseas.

Our approach involves working with our clients to develop technical policy options in a form that is used inside Government today – covering economic issues, tax legislative concerns and fiscal costings. This ensures that the proposals can be implemented with the minimum of delay, that the concerns of Government policy-makers are addressed and that such proposals have the maximum chance of adoption.

We are recruiting for someone to join the team to assist with operations and client work.

Job description:

  • Your focus will be on supporting the growth of the tax policy practice in the UK & Ireland and across the global network.

  • You will assist the team's pursuit and development of new opportunities both in respect of existing and prospective clients, as directed by the leadership team

  • You will work on tax policy projects liaising with colleagues in other EY offices (eg in projects covering Africa

  • You will need:

  • the ability to develop a working understanding and awareness of the subject matter that the tax policy team deal with.

  • To be able to effectively translate complex concepts into high quality, impactful presentations and analyses to support pursuits, final deliverables and events that the team is involved in.

  • You will report directly to the leadership team, but will be expected to be strongly motivated, self‑directed and able to build links with key stakeholders across the firm to deliver high quality work.

Skills and qualifications

  • Ability to solve problems creatively and pragmatically

  • Excellent communicator both written and oral

  • Strong project management and organisational skills

  • Strong IT skills (especially in Power Point, and Excel)
