EY’s Tax Quality team supports the tax practices of the UK&I Region and Financial Services business in the UK. The team is led by one partner and two directors (based in London) and includes a number of senior managers/managers and other professionals. The team supports the various business units on a wide range of Quality and Risk Management matters.
The person in this role will play a key part in supporting the Central Tax Quality team in the UK&I Region. This team is led by one partner and two directors and includes a number of senior managers/managers and other staff. The team also provides Tax Quality support to Ireland and to our Financial Services business. The team supports the various business units on a wide range of matters.
Your key responsibilities
The role is very varied and involves assisting with both project based and ad hoc work including a mix of technical Quality and project management support. For the right person, there is considerable opportunity to learn on the job and to grow into more senior roles within the team.
The major parts of the role would involve absorbing some considerable technical expertise to enable delivery of the following:
Updating and amending our policy and guidance repositories for Tax and Legal services.
Maintaining and enhancing our portfolio of pre-written engagement agreements and terms and conditions, scoping most of our common tax and legal offerings across the sub service lines.
Supporting our Project Co-ordinator running our Tax Quality Reviews of Partner’s and Executive Director’s work.
Carrying out our Engagement Acceptance Reviews - this involves reviewing the engagement team’s performance on the front-end Quality and Risk Management processes (such as our internal Global Intranet tool dealing with Client and Engagement Acceptance and Engagement Agreement contractual coverage) and then following up findings with engagement teams.
Executing the Regulatory testing exercise comprising a review of a sample of our people’s appraisal and goal plan documentation.
Monitoring, manipulating spreadsheet data and reporting on CPD compliance by Tax service line people.
Driving the completion of mandatory training/WBLs by people who have not complied with our Shared Service Centre’s various mandates and requests.
Running the quarterly process for reporting compliance with the HMRC various Disclosure and Promoters of Tax Avoidance Schemes.
Support the team on various other initiatives as they arise.

To qualify for the role you must have
Excellent IT/Technology skills eg proficient in Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, Sharepoint.
The ability to exercise confidentiality and discretion on sensitive matters.
High energy, enthusiasm and positive attitude, is able to take the initiative. Ideally, you’ll also have
Knowledge of the Tax practice work would be an advantage, but is not essential
Knowledge of Quality and Risk Management/Compliance would be an advantage, but is not essential as full training will be given.
