Job purpose:

The Senior Manager is responsible for managing a large portfolio of clients, the role includes the operational aspects of engagement management such as engagement finances, resource management, and elements of risk management.

Professionals will play a key role in the development of their team and manage, coach and act as a mentor for their team-members. They will build strong relationships with on-shore colleagues and clients, identifying areas where GDS can improve quality and increase the scope of work.

Your client responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of Managers, Assistant Managers, Seniors and Associates and make sure the team delivers high quality work on time and within budget

  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with key EY Global contacts, i.e., Global assurance managers, senior managers and partners to grow GDS business through:

  • Establishing expectations of value to be delivered to the Global audit teams and ultimately to the Global audit clients

  • Building industry specific knowledge and capabilities within your team

  • Work closely with Global teams to transition new engagements and services to GDS Assurance whilst maintaining high quality of service

  • Develop an understanding of EY Quality and Risk Management procedures, and ensure these are embedded into the engagement team's work.

  • Proactively discuss audit procedures with the audit teams in Global, allocating resources to audit work and monitoring performance against standards

  • For select engagements/projects, perform manager level reviews of workpapers prepared by GDS teams

  • Monitor and manage key performance metrics for your team – utilization, feedback, resourcing, attrition, etc

  • Understand scope of GDS offerings across service lines to develop an account centric approach for clients

  • Demonstrate professionalism, competence and clarity of communication when dealing with GDS and Global teams.

  • Identify opportunities to standardize and optimize audit processes across a portfolio of clients

  • Use technology to continually learn, share knowledge with team members, and enhance service delivery. Contribute to technical and soft-skills training to continually develop the team's skills.

Your People responsibilities:

  • Develop people by encouraging individuals to think for themselves and take responsibility for their contributions to the team.

  • Conduct timely performance reviews and provide performance feedback/training. Lead by example.

  • Provide coaching and mentoring to managers to effective manage their responsibilities


Technical skills requirements:

  • Knowledge of IFRS/UK GAAP/US GAAP and International standards is an advantage

  • Effective interpersonal, risk management, facilitation and presentation Skills

  • Project management, leadership, coaching, counselling and supervisory skills

  • Excellent communication skills including speaking and writing effectively in English

  • Ability to spread positive work culture and live EY values

  • The ability to quickly form strong working relationship with colleagues in India and around the world.

Additional skills requirements:

  • We currently are seeking qualified chartered accountants or CPAs with over 7 years of post-qualification experience.
