The opportunity

We are the largest Insurance Risk Management Consulting Practice of the Big Four. We are a team of expansive capabilities, ranging from risk management and insurance services (e.g. claims review, policy review, vendor spending analysis) to alternative risk transfer solutions and other leading services sought by clients worldwide. Your key responsibilities

As a Senior within the Risk and Claims group, you’ll be challenged to participate on engagement teams focused on several of the following areas:

  • Reserve Analysis

  • Risk/Claims management

  • Operational and procedural reviews

  • Claims audits

  • Data analytics pertaining to pricing and cost control

  • Multi-line claim adjudication (e.g. Workers Compensation, Liability, Auto and Property)

  • Participate in the engagement, focusing on complex and specialized insurance, claims, or risk management issues. Collaborate to determine an engagement strategy and create a plan. Communicate effectively with the client and the engagement team.

  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with client management. Focus on deliverables and prioritize. Manage expectations of service. Successfully manage to the budget. Stay informed of general business/economic developments and their impact to the client.

  • Develop people. Delegate work effectively. Contribute to on-the-job feedback/training and conduct performance reviews. Coach junior staff in pursuing actuarial examinations/credentials. Foster teamwork and innovative thinking.

  • Commit to developing knowledge. Use technology to continually learn, share knowledge with team members, and enhance service delivery. Respect/protect confidential client information. Maintain an educational program to continually develop skills.

  • Generate new business opportunities. Understand EY's service lines and actively assess/present opportunities for the firm to bring value to clients. Develop long-term relationships and networks.

To qualify for the role you must have

You will have general insurance experience gained from employment at in an insurer, risk management or at another qualified consultancy firm.

Specifically you will have experience in a majority of the following areas:

  • Bachelor's degree and approximately 2 years of related work experience; or a graduate degree and approximately 1-2 years of related work experience.

  • Degree in Insurance/Risk Management, Finance, Business Administration, and/or other related major.

  • Approximately 1 years of experience in an insurance, claims, or risk management position.

  • Completion or significant progress towards the completion of an advanced, recognized insurance industry designation (e.g., AIC, ARe, ARM, CPCU), or an advanced degree (e.g., MBA, JD).

  • Strong writing and presentation skills.

  • Strong PC skills including, but not limited to, knowledge of spreadsheets.

  • The successful candidate must also be willing and able to travel, when necessary.

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Completion or significant progress towards the completion of an advanced, recognized insurance industry designation (e.g., AIC, ARe, ARM, CPCU), or an advanced degree (e.g., MBA, JD)
