EY’s Valuation & Business Modelling practice is currently looking for an Analyst to join our Business Modelling & Decision Analytics team.

You will focus on Business Modelling & Decision Analytics assignments but will also have the opportunity to work on Valuation assignments. The work provides the opportunity for a variety of assignments, from office-based to client-based work; from an assignment that lasts a couple of days to very large assignments working as part of a multi-disciplinary team. As no two projects are the same, the work requires a high level of adaptability, flexibility and innovation.

Business Modelling & Decision Analytics is regarded by many organizations as an integral and essential part of the decision making process. The EY Business Modelling & Decision Analytics team brings specialist expertise to work with large datasets to draw actionable insights and to the process of developing complex models for business planning and forecasting, transactions (corporate finance and project finance), decision support, risk analysis and business information. We also provide independent assurance for corporate banks and other users’ decision making tools by reviewing financial, strategic and operational models built by our clients.



You will be responsible for:

  • Designing and building intermediate to complex business models

  • Reviewing Excel models and preparing preliminary conclusions

  • Developing an expert level understanding of Excel and other analytical tools

  • Understanding, manipulating and interpreting financial data and client information, drawing appropriate conclusions

  • Demonstrating an ability to listen to the team as well as clients and address their needs

  • Demonstrating teamwork and responsibility towards engagement team members

  • Developing positive, productive and professional relationships with colleagues and clients

  • Responding to day-to-day queries raised by clients and attend client meetings

  • Producing written file notes, letters, presentations and reports

  • Contributing to developing client relationships and selling services to address client needs

  • Delivering on time and on budget

  • Ability to concurrently manage and deliver on 2-3 engagements

  • Generating ideas to maximize assignment profitability, supporting revenue generation initiatives and business development

  • Traveling to out-of-market client locations

  • Support the core valuation team

  • Valuing businesses, shares or intellectual property as part of a small team

  • Contributing to the broader EY business and supporting other EY service lines

Skills and experience:

We are interested in candidates who have:

  • A degree or designation in business, finance or accounting, with a sound grasp of financial accounting, combined with business awareness and an understanding of the factors that drive financial performance

  • A degree or demonstrated experience in computer science, engineering or mathematics with a strong knowledge of programming, predictive analytical and statistical techniques would be advantageous

  • Financial modelling skills, with the ability to create financial models based on our client's operational and financial business plans

  • Aptitude in quantitative and qualitative analysis with a natural interest in using it to help our clients to better understand their business and/or to make better business decisions

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including VBA (preferred)

  • Knowledge of programming languages and tools such as Spotfire, Tableau, SQL, R, Matlab, etc., preferred; along with a desire to learn new technologies

  • The ability and flexibility to work alongside team members to ensure the timely completion of work deliverables, and manage time spent against budget

  • Excellent analytical, project management, multi-tasking, communication, organizational, structured problem solving, teamwork and interpersonal skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills

  • Current enrollment or desire to pursue the CFA designation

  • Track record of extracurricular success

Depending on the needs of other sub-service lines in our Transaction Advisory Services practice, from time to time, you may be called upon to work in those sub-service lines. This position requires travel, as necessary.
