The Financial Accounting Systems Analyst role in the Americas Finance Firmwide Accounting Group (Core Business Services – CBS Service Line) will act as a financial system liaison between the Accounting, Finance and Information Technology teams. You will assist the financial community by maintaining the overall integrity of the general ledger system and managing key journal entries for the completion of the fiscal month / year-end closing process. You will review system configuration related to changing business requirements. You will assist with the statutory calendar year-end (cash books) close. And, you will represent the interests of EY and Americas Finance in meetings with other functional areas.
Maintain the overall integrity of the general ledger system, which includes identifying system issues and resolving them with the respective functional and technical module owners
Assist with the fiscal month and year-end closings, which includes preparing, reviewing and approving key financial / statistical journal entries
Support the Federal Government Services Practice (payroll reconciliations and journal entries preparation) by manually recording the financial metrics into the General Ledger
Review system configurations (e.g. chart of accounts) and changes to business rules, to be compliant with EY’s policies and procedures
Maintain the payroll interface to the general ledger as business changes arise, and participate in testing and reviewing the impacts to payroll journal entries as needed
Assist with the statutory calendar year-end (cash books) close and provide accrual to cash reporting and ad hoc support
Provide guidance and assistance to internal clients in analysis, reconciliation, data retrieval, system flow and reporting needs
Leverage various reporting and analytical tools for data mining and ad hoc reporting as well as identify areas where efficiencies can be achieved through automation
Help integrate, design, upgrade and enhance systems in accordance with the accounting policies, procedures, best practices and reporting structures for new services and offerings to clients
Gain an understanding on EY’s culture, business objectives and business needs
Work on special projects, as required
Knowledge and Skills Requirements
Knowledge of financial accounting systems and applications (such as PeopleSoft, SAP, Business Objects, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel) and key interdisciplinary dependencies
Excellent English language skills both written and verbal communication
Strong analytical, accounting and problem-solving skills
Strong business acumen
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to work with virtual global teams
- A minimum of 4-6 years related experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or related business discipline, or equivalent work experience
