Ass. Manager/Manager - Capital Allowances – EY Dublin Tax Practice

Background:

Due to continued growth of the capital allowances market, EY are looking for an Intermediate to Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the Quantitative Services team within the overall Dublin Tax practice. An excellent package is available, including competitive salary, employer pension and health insurance contributions. Salary offers will be commensurate on candidate’s experience.

A highly motivated, ambitious and enthusiastic team player, with excellent oral and written communication skills is required, to join one of the fastest growing teams in the Dublin Tax practice. You will work within a multidisciplinary team comprising chartered quantity surveyors and tax professionals responsible for delivering capital allowances engagements to a diverse and exciting range of clients.

Prior capital allowances experience is advantageous, however, not essential, as on the job training will be provided, in terms of acquiring the necessary knowledge of the Irish capital allowances regime, relevant tax legislation and Revenue precedent/case law.

The Role:

  • Manage the efficient and successful delivery of capital allowances engagements, ensuring technical excellence and practical/business driven approach taken, utilising junior staff in the team appropriately, including planning and prioritizing work to meet deadlines

  • Prepare fully supported capital allowances claims for clients, where capital expenditure is incurred through construction contracts or the acquisition of buildings

  • Collate the required contract pricing documentation from clients and carry out analysis of same, in order to identify qualifying expenditure

  • Where buildings are acquired carry out purchase claims, involving estimating the overall replacement cost of the building including identifying the value of plant and machinery contained within same

  • Collate and review M&E specifications and O&M manual content from clients, in order to identify qualifying energy efficient equipment for accelerated capital allowances

  • Carry out visual inspections of properties in order to identify and document qualifying assets

  • Prepare detailed client ready capital allowance reports

  • Attend client meetings/conference calls as required in delivering engagements or for business development purposes

  • Responsible for day-to-day delivery of client liaison for assigned engagements

  • Build and maintain relationships with clients and provide high levels of client service

  • Build relationships both within the firm and externally with clients, identifying opportunities and leveraging industry contacts

  • Contribute to winning new work by proactively managing existing clients and contribute to winning new clients

  • Reporting directly to a Senior Manager and Partner within the Quantitative Services team

  • Responsible for engagement acceptance procedures and the financial management of engagements including managing WIP, billing and debtors

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Degree qualified quantity surveyor (min grade 2.1) with at least three year’s professional practice construction cost consultancy experience, as a project quantity surveyor or senior project quantity surveyor

  • Chartered MRICS/MSCSI (not essential)

  • Demonstrable experience interfacing directly with clients and managing own projects in conjunction with practice Partner/Director

  • Broad sectoral cost management experience – e.g. commercial office, retail, hospitality, residential, production facilities, data centres etc.

  • High proficiency in MS office suite, particularly Excel, Word, as well as CAD measure
