Manager - Commercial Advisory Services

Summary of role

SGV provides Commercial Advisory Services to corporate, private equity and banking clients on strategic and commercial issues affecting their key investment decisions. We offer fact-based advice to help our clients think through the most pressing strategic issues they face. Our areas of work include:

· Commercial due diligence

· Strategy assessment

· Market entry strategy and opportunity sizing

· Product and business unit strategy development

· Portfolio analysis and divestment options analysis

Responsibilities

  • Help identify key market points and evaluate options to enter the market in terms of buying, building, or executing a joint venture

  • Track, analyze, and forecast trends in market landscape, pricing landscape, and competitors in key industries

  • Assess potential growth opportunities, in new geographies, product or service categories, and understand competitive position compared to market opportunity

  • Understand the market potential and identify key value drivers and risks associated with investments, including assistance in modeling results

  • Provide economic analytics to address strategic issues such as pricing, public policy, and competition for private and public sector

  • Interact with different specialists within the firm, and colleagues across the globe, to deliver enhanced transaction solutions

  • Lead, develop and counsel junior colleagues, and take an active role in the growth and development of the whole team

Requirements

· Strong commercial and communication skills in order to be a true business advisor with the ability to build lasting client relationships

· Well-developed critical thinking skills and the ability to structure disparate information sources to support fact-based conclusions

  • Robust numerical, economic, market, and industry analysis skills

· Analytical work experience preferably gained in a strategy consulting firm, an investment bank, or a strategy department of a leading corporate

· Ability to execute and manage the collection of relevant business and industry trend information, and to analyze the information effectively by applying numerical and strategic analysis techniques;

  • Market size estimation and projection

  • Assessment of market dynamics, including regulatory, economic, and technological shifts

  • Evaluation of competitive landscape and potential sources of competitive advantage

  • Sound commercial judgment and an ability to generate creative solutions to problems; ability to identify potential market opportunities

  • Demonstrated confidence in client situations, gaining client acceptance and establishing value through advice and sector insight

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, economics, or finance course preferred

  • MBA an advantage
