EY's Information Technology Enablement Practice is a Center of Excellence that assists our national advisory practices in planning, pursuing, delivering and managing large, complex full lifecycle initiatives along with providing experience in leading practices, methods, and resources in the space of Information Technology. Applications Advisory Services within Technology Enablement supports our area offices by providing resources that can design, architect, deliver and lead such initiatives. Application Advisory Services advises clients to understand, architect, select and implement the core applications required to run their business. Application Advisory Services primarily focuses on the design and optimization of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) packages like SAP, Oracle, Hyperion, Cognos, Siebel and others. Our team typically works with Fortune 1000 clients across a variety of industries including Insurance, Banking and Capital Markets, Manufacturing, Pharma, Energy/Utilities, Transportation, Telecommunications and Entertainment/Media.

We currently have a career opportunity for a Senior Manager in Application Advisory Services. The successful Senior Manager will work with and through the EY area offices to assist clients with a variety of needs. The goal is to support our area offices as they build their individual practices and work to facilitate their clients' efforts to make their business units more effective and efficient. To meet that objective, our service offering includes, among others, the analysis of specific business requirements that will translate into sound technology architecture, infrastructure designs and vendor selection.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Advisory Services by providing business development assistance, and as needed, managing project teams through agreed upon phases of the ERP project governance, requirements definition, vendor selection, risk analysis, customization, testing and training

  • Assist in developing applicable methodologies, tools, approaches, points of view, thought leadership and accelerators to differentiate EY in the ERP advisory market. These are shared with all EY market facing organizations to provide consistency and common platforms with which to go to market

  • Provide broad functional knowledge of all key SAP modules

  • Team with client technology professionals, and/or third-party strategic alliances

  • Demonstrate quality project execution and delivery by successfully monitoring project/program team economics, performance against the job arrangement and budget, and proactively adjust scope, timing, and resources as appropriate and if necessary

  • Develop people by encouraging individuals to think for themselves and take responsibility for their contributions to the team. Delegate work successfully. Conduct timely performance reviews and provide performance feedback/training. Lead by example

  • Generate new business opportunities by thoroughly understanding EY and its service lines and actively assessing and presenting ways to apply knowledge and services

  • Manage and supervise a team of technology professionals through all phases of the technology lifecycle, including requirements definition, architecture design, conversion and testing

  • Interact and communicate effectively with finance and technology senior and middle management executives

To qualify, candidates must have:

  • a bachelor's degree and approximately 8 years of related work experience; or a master's degree and approximately 7 years of related work experience

  • a degree in computer science, , accounting, finance or a related field (MBA or MS degree preferred)

  • 5-7 years of experience working with SAP, as well as 2-3 full life cycle implementations (or equivalent experience) required

  • Experience executing a business blueprint and documenting business requirements that can be understood by a technical process team

  • Development of project documentation, training materials, requirements gathering and project management methodology experience required

  • Experience with configuration of resource related billing preferred

  • strong written and verbal communication, presentation, client service and technical writing skills, coupled with a strong interest in further developing and integrating enterprise finance with technology skills

  • prior consulting experience and a demonstrated history of driving revenue within existing clients and in developing new prospects at the “C” level of Fortune 500 companies

  • ability to lead a team of consulting professionals on multiple projects

  • a willingness to travel to meet client needs; travel is estimated to be 70–90%

  • a valid US driver's license and a valid passport required; willingness and ability to travel internationally
