The finance functions within our Aerospace & Defense clients are facing complex change. After years of acquisitions, divestitures and restructurings, many A&D companies are operating in environments with old, disconnected ERP systems, extensive manual reconciliations and processes, and shortages of capable staff. Many have not yet been able to take advantage of automation, cloud and SAAS solutions, or have immature or incomplete shared services functions. Many are preparing for large-scale ERP transformation and need assistance in documenting and streamlining financial processes to make the most of the change.
Our objective is to provide clients with a unique business perspective on how to transform the finance function - reducing cost base, increasing efficiency and quality of information, and improving decision-making through the following core areas: finance operating model design; business performance management and reporting, shared services design and implementation; finance process improvement, finance system implementation and outsourcing advisory, all within the unique environment of Aerospace and Defense.
As an EY A&D professional, you'll have the ability to use your experiences to assist our clients in addressing these needs and opportunities, using sophisticated EY tools and solutions, which you will help adapt for the unique needs of our clients and the A&D environment. You will work with some of the highest performing teams, advance your overall skill set, while meeting some great people along the way.
Your key responsibilities
You will work with our A&D account teams to understand clients' finance agendas and priorities, cultivate trusted relationships, and develop and deliver insights that will help convert those client needs into engagement wins. You will be responsible for managing one or more high-performing engagement teams at an executive level within the practice and the firm to deliver high quality results on those engagements. You can expect to work with high-level client personnel and EY's most talented A&D professionals in adjacent disciplines such as Risk, Government Compliance and Technical Accounting to create high-value results for our A&D clients.
You will work to sell, deliver, and manage finance transformation projects in one or more of the following areas:
Finance strategy development
Finance operating model design
Finance processes improvement
Shared services and global business services design and implementation
Financial planning and analysis (FP&A)
Finance systems (e.g., SAP), robotics, and intelligent automation
Financial close, consolidation and reporting
Cost management and profitability analysis
Order-to-cash, procure-to-pay and record-to-report processes
Skills and attributes for success
Demonstrate in-depth technical capabilities and professional knowledge across the finance function.
Demonstrate ability to quickly learn new processes and uncover new offerings that may assist current customer base.
Provide mentoring and motivate diverse client engagement teams by delivering constructive on-the-job coaching to team members, while fostering an innovative and inclusive team-oriented work environment.
Drive high-quality work within expected timeframes and on budget. Monitor progress, manage risk and ensure clients are kept informed about progress and expected outcomes.
Build relationships with client personnel and deliver quality client services. Strive to assist our clients to uncover additional areas of opportunity to reduce cost or improve results.
Understand EY and its service lines and actively assess what the firm can deliver to serve clients.
To qualify for the role, you must have

A bachelor's degree or master's degree
About 5-7 years of experience in finance operations within an A&D environment
Approximately 5-7 years of recent consulting experience at a large / Big Four consulting firm
We would expect for you to be available to travel outside of their assigned office location up to 50% of the time. Successful candidates must work in excess of standard hours when necessary.
Ideally, you'll have
A bachelor's degree, a master's degree focusing on finance, accounting or business administration
Deep knowledge in A&D finance operations – budgeting, financial planning & analysis, accounting systems, project accounting, government contract accounting and financial reporting.
Ability to build a book of business and lead in the client proposal process
