Our GPS Technology Organization is a structure within the US GPS practice that implements and maintains a new operate and technology model designed specifically to support U.S. defense and Government engagements.

The opportunity

As the EY Government and Public Sector (GPS) Data Steward, you will have management and operational responsibility for client information used in GPS engagements. In this role, you’ll work with client information owners to understand the types of information and information security requirements required for the engagement. You’ll use this information to ensure proper protection of the client’s information throughout its lifecycle at EY.

You are a critical member of the GPS Security Governance Team. You will work with the Information System Security Officers and the Policy Team to provide appropriate security for GPS engagements, and you will work with the client teams to ensure each client’s requirements are supported prior to each engagement. During the engagement you will ensure the information is appropriately protected. After an engagement, you will ensure the information is retained as needed and appropriately destroyed when it is no longer needed.

Your key responsibilities

  • Identify the information types required for each engagement during the contracting phase. For each type, identify the appropriate security categorization and security and privacy requirements. Escalate issues as appropriate.

  • Advise engagement staff, Information System Owners, and Information System Security Officers and other interested GPS staff as to the types of data being used and the security and privacy requirements.

  • Maintain a data registry for GPS and the GPS systems.

  • Inform GPS engagement teams on the proper methods for labeling client information in electronic and printed documents.

  • Track all information sharing agreements and ensure authorization is received prior to sharing.

  • Track client information in all GPS systems and ensure proper destruction at its end of life.

  • Participate in information security governance decisions processes as the expert on data types used in engagements.

  • Analytical and decision-making responsibilities

  • Flexibility to adjust to multiple demands, shifting priorities, ambiguity, and rapid change

Skills and attributes for success

  • Experience working in information security and understanding of information security concepts

  • Knowledge of information security policies / principles of handling and protecting information

  • In-depth understanding of NIST security documentation such as FIPS and 800 Series publications and their application.

  • In-depth understanding of DFARS related security requirements and their application.

  • Strong English language skills are required – written and verbal. This includes the ability to evaluate contract terms in support of legal staff.

  • Good writing, presentation, interpersonal, and collaborative skills

  • Skilled in executive level presentations and briefings

  • Experience managing communication with internal customers

  • Ability to collaborate with others to facilitate and enhance compliance with policies

  • Experience with coordinating tasks, allocating resources, and following tasks and projects through completion

  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio)

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Degree in information assurance, computer science, or a similar technical field, or equivalent experience.

  • Ability to obtain and retain a top-secret security clearance

Preferred Experience

  • Developing and maintaining technical information security documentation.

  • Process management including the use of measures to drive maturity.

  • Creating training materials and delivery of training to a technical staff.
