EY’s Business Tax Services (BTS) is a globally connected practice that serves national and multinational clients, providing a range of domestic and international transactional tax planning services and tax-related advisory services. Our Digital Tax Administration Services (DTAS) is closely tied with BTS to help clients navigate the dynamic and complex tax environment to address their digital needs. The opportunity

Tax administrations are going digital across the globe at an unprecedented pace. Rapid digital expansion, by its very nature, creates a high volume of new and potentially unexpected compliance and regulatory obligations. EY’DTAS services is new to the market with products that help clients confront this significant disruption in the digital tax landscape. Using emerging technologies can help unlock value, manage risk and perform sophisticated data analytics for virtual tax collection and audits. You can help clients reduce the operational impact on their people, process and technology. Mentored by some of the firms’ most senior talent who have significant experience in bringing new products to the market – you’ll be a trusted business advisor by equipping clients orchestrate a digital strategy that is vital to their global tax function.

Key responsibilities

DTAS has an all-inclusive approach to the digital tax reporting lifecycle. Our capabilities include digital tax readiness review, digital requirements monitoring, data enablement and implementation, data management, data analytics, controversy assistance and digital tax compliance. You’ll actively be involved in designing and developing new services and methodologies around the different segments of this life-cycle – which would include consulting projects and subscription services. You will be involved in market development activities particularly in the West region. You will be instrumental in the build out of a managed service that would require technology and methodology enablement and configuration of a global service delivery model.

Further, you will generate an inventory of data submission requirements, potential risk area assessments, and develop blueprints to implement effective management and visibility over a company’s responsiveness to digital tax compliance.

This position will require a self-starter with added creativity to design and deliver comprehensive solutions encompassing knowledge acquisition, implementation and on-going service delivery. Further, it will require strong executive presence with the ability to steer client discussions by purposefully influencing the mind-set shift from tax returns to data. As a Senior Manager, you are a business leader with the ability to drive business, growth, innovation and a strong team to support this new venture of the firm.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Scoping of new opportunities: develop proposals and participate in oral presentations; provide high-quality services/work products; build relationships with clients understanding their unique needs to provide a tailored service

  • Build technical competence: keep updated on global trends, developments and regulations and apply them

  • Understand EY methodologies/tools to enhance service delivery, challenge current procedures to find new approaches

  • Significant project management experience with an aptitude for data analytics

  • Managing, coaching and developing a team of tax professionals

  • Interest in working for a start-up like environment & in new product introductions.

To qualify for the role you must have

  • A bachelors degree in a related field, supported by significant tax or legal experience; MST, MAcc, JD/LLM preferred

  • Valid US Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or active state bar membership

  • Minimum of 8 years of work experience in professional tax organization or law firm

  • Broad exposure to federal income taxation, statutory reporting, payroll or other related finance activities

  • Strong analytical skills, interpersonal, and written/verbal communication skills; problem-solving ability and attention to detail

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Client-facing exposure in a global role
