About Program Mercury

Program Mercury is a large, multi-year, enterprise-wide process transformation that will replace more than 1400 EY business systems and related processes with an integrated, SAP centric platform that will standardize and harmonize activities throughout the organization and significantly improve how EY manages its business. Program Mercury is a key enabler of EY’s Vision 2020, directly supporting the efforts of a number of transformation initiatives across the Firm by streamlining the application portfolio, reducing operating costs and providing a platform to deliver services more efficiently.

About the Mercury Support Team (MST)

As an organization jointly owned by the business and IT, the MST is a centralized and global organization which will provide operational support for the delivered Mercury solution and manage and support the Mercury user community. The MSSC will play an integral role in governance of the Mercury solution and the global template from both a business and IT perspective and will evolve to work closely with the business in enabling the benefit and value to be realized from the investment in Program Mercury and to set the future direction and technology road map to support Vision 2020.

Job Summary:

  • Provide cutover status updates leading into cutover and during cutover

  • Support development of Cutover Plan on a Page

  • Support development of cutover integrated plan

  • Support execution of cutover plan

  • Any other duties to support Cutover deliverables

  • Manage Cutover Issues & Risk Lifecycle

  • Manage Cutover Governance deck with links to all project plans, TAPs and Lessons Learned documents

  • Manage Cutover lesson-learned process

Essential Functions of the Job:

  • ERP or systems implementation experience

  • SAP experience is preferred but not required

  • Cutover experience of system implementation projects

  • Calm under pressure

  • Manager or higher level with good communication skills

  • Manage internal issues escalated from the team to remove barriers preventing them from performing their assigned activities

  • Initiating Service Improvement Programs for the Cutover process

  • Identify process / work activity improvements for areas related to the Cutover process and coordinate efforts to produce effective and consistent results

  • Manage issues escalated from other functions or groups

  • Protect the IT Services managed environments from unauthorized changes

  • Ensure the process users are sufficiently trained to follow the process

  • Provide quality metrics and reporting to promote compliance

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:

  • Proven track record in managing cutovers for large, complex and highly integrated application landscapes with programs with a global template, single production instance and a dual path to production

  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of Software Development Lifecycle

  • Experience of working within multi-location teams

  • Experience of working in large programs of work

  • Experience of Team Management with multi-location teams and team member are not direct reports

  • Ability to build good relationships both within own team and with other teams

  • Ability to work across multiple projects

  • Ability to bring multi disciplined teams together into one delivery team

  • Ability to determine strategic direction not just tactical

  • Excellent management, interpersonal, written and verbal communication, and organizational skills

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Motivated by delivery

  • Flexibility to adjust to multiple demands, shifting priorities, ambiguity and rapid change

  • Ability to work and team with a multitude of different people within and outside of IT to balance demands

  • Ability to deal efficiently with escalations and difficult situations/people under pressure

  • Ability to understand and integrate cultural differences and lead virtual cross-cultural, cross-border teams.

  • Experience of having worked on large, global IT deployment programs including preparing for go-live and supporting the immediate post go-live period

  • Some travel may be required, possibly international


  • Bachelor degree in related discipline, or equivalent work experience

  • One or more professional certificates to supplement formal education
