About the Mercury Support Team (MST)

As an organization jointly owned by the business and IT, the MST is a centralized and global organization which will provide operational support for the delivered Mercury solution and manage and support the Mercury user community. The MST will play an integral role in governance of the Mercury solution and the global template from both a business and IT perspective and will evolve to work closely with the business in enabling the benefit and value to be realized from the investment in Program Mercury and to set the future direction and technology road map to support Vision 2020. .

Job Summary:

SAP Control-m batch scheduler and Analyst

Responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting / escalating workload issues, creation / modifications and deployment of automated job workloads in development, acceptance, and production environments. Code / application migration and data fix script execution. Working with support teams to resolve issues in a proactive manner to ensure system / application availability to the user community.Work closely with other operational support teams, SAP application technology team, Service Delivery Managers and provide specific, technical expertise regarding performance of jobs, including knowledge of the dependent jobs in SAP. The main activities are to assure the smooth ongoing batch support operation in Mercury. Knowledge of SAP applications and experience to optimize the jobs in control-m. Create daily batch analytics and reports. This role reports to Mercury technology operations leader.

Essential Functions of the Job:

Ownership of SAP Mercury batch solution in control-m productive and non-productive environments including below

  • Planning and implementing changes to application workloads

  • Monitoring of process for failures, alerts and general status, Implement SR’s and change requests for batch.

  • Escalation of batch processing issues as directed by PSP or specific instructions embedded in the processing

  • The role requires the individual to operate as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) within their scope of Mercury batch solution providing level 3 production support. This requires the individual to work closely with the Mercury support team and vendors like IBM AMS, AHS. In addition the role requires decision making / input relating to:

  • Use of their Subject Matter Expert (SME) knowledge in both Control M desktop and Enterprise Manager to provide fault tolerant schedules and alerting

  • Provide input to the application support teams in regard to changes to the batch processing when better practices are identified

  • Reviewing requests and working with support teams to resolve questions relating to versions to be migrated and environments to be migrated to

  • Work with application support teams to further escalate issues to management when system availability is in jeopardy.

  • Extensive experience working with 3rd party vendors as service providers like IBM –AMS and AHS.

  • Proven experience with a Fortune 500 company working in a global environment

  • Excellent PM skills

  • Engineer the procedures for initial deployment and subsequent process improvement.

  • Enforce compliance of the process (implementation, assessment, quality etc.).

  • Attend the Release Review Board (RRB) for Mercury and participate in the IT Services CAB as required.

  • Work closely with key IT Services functions to ensure alignment and synergy.

  • Ensure the process users are sufficiently trained to follow the process.

  • Provide quality metrics and reporting to promote compliance.

  • Liaise with other Process Leads and global leads to enhance interfaces internal and external to Service Management.

  • Chair high impact Post Implementation Reviews (PIR) meetings with the required stake holders to identify what went wrong during the implementation of failed changes/releases. Provide recommendations and/or define actions to prevent reoccurrences of similar errors/Incidents

  • Liaise with the SAP technology teams for upgrades and patches for holding jobs and resuming jobs in production and non-production environments.

Knowledge and Experience Requirements:

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Experience with Control-M Desktop and Enterprise Manager workload automation software

  • Ability to navigate through various OS systems and execute scripts (Windows , Unix and Linux, Oracle/ SQLPlus)

  • Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve incidents and manage change requests

  • Creating and maintaining documentation for supported environments as well as following ITIL practices

  • Familiarity with Excel, Access, Word, Outlook and Service Now

  • Basic project management skills

  • Outgoing and can work in a high demand, production environment

  • English language skills- good written and verbal communication

  • Experience of working with multi-location teams

  • Experience of working in large programs of work

  • Excellent experience in client-facing roles within blue chip organizations.

  • Experience of Line Management responsibilities for small teams

  • Ability to build good relationships both within own team and with other teams

  • Ability to work across multiple projects

  • The ability to work and team effectively with clients and other management personnel across geographies.

  • Minimum of 10 years IT related experience

  • Approximately 7 years’ experience in Batch Scheduling environment

  • SAP experience plus

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (computer science) or equivalent work experience
