Join our Global Trade team as a manager and you’ll bejoining a team of specialists across the areas of customs, excise duties and export controls.

You’ll beadvising our international and multinational clientsacross all industry sectors on compliance, risk management, cost reduction and strategic planning, in relation tointernational transactions and trade involving indirect taxes, customs and duties. In addition you will work on our Brexit analytics and strategy planning for clients.The work is technically challenging, creative and requires you to work closely with our clients’ businesses.

The opportunity

EMEIA Tax Centre (ETC)

Beginning with just 5 service offerings in 2009, the ETC has grown significantly and now comprises over 300 people across EMEIA. The ETC incubates and accelerates our latest and most innovative tax services.

This is a period of unprecedented change and growth in theETC which operates as a Centre of Excellence, with a primary focus on cross-border delivery of specialist and innovative service offerings.

Global Trade

The current turbulent economic conditions are driving companies to further develop cost reduction and profit repatriation strategies across their global operations. At the same time Brexit has presented huge challenges to many of our clients and we are working with many of them to put in place effective post Brexit customs strategies. Our ETC Global Trade team assist companies to realize the benefits of managing their international trade costs and compliance proactively and on a regional/global basis.

You will already have experience in global trade but also a passion and interest in developing your knowledge further with the onlyGlobal Trade team in the Big 4 that operates as a single integrated team across multiple geographies.

Your key responsibilities

  • Contributing to building and maintaining key client relationships by delivering exceptional client service - managing thesuccessful provision of international trade advice for a broad range of multinational clients across all industry sectors

  • Identifying and driving opportunities –use your previous experience and knowledge to host knowledge sharing sessions and provide technical training to the wider team

  • Identify and develop Business Development opportunities, both internally and externally

  • Building and developing your own strong client and internal relationships withthe wider Global Trade team Develop and externally with client and industry contacts

  • Leading and preparing customs, excise, or export controls technical research and proposals

  • Be prepared to travel to other offices and client sites to work on our cross border projects

Skills and attributes for success

  • Comprehensive technical knowledge and experience of customs; with technical knowledge and experience of excise and/or export controls too

  • Experience of advising on import and export processes, trade procedures and documentation

  • Strong research skills with the know-how on leading research into international trade developments, supply chain operations or operational trade documentation processes and how they affect the movement of goods across borders

  • Client driven and strategically and commercially aware

  • Excellent communicator across a range of situations

  • Enthusiastic and flexible attitude to work

  • Strong analytical skills, and ability to use IT effectively (proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint) a distinct advantage

Ideally, you'll also have

  • Previous people management

  • Experience of coaching and developing more junior team members

  • Client handling and project management skills

  • Quantifying the cost of Brexit and helping clients to formulate post Brexit customs strategies
