Within the professional services environment, the management of risk is fundamental to the successful delivery of our client services and promotion of our brand. Our Risk Management team provides a second line of defence support encompassing the technical support and processes which enable and support the delivery of service quality, contain the threat of litigation, limit damage to our reputation and achieve full fee recovery.

This role will be the UK Risk Management SME for third party supplier relationships. The role holder will lead UK Risk Management activity in pre contract supplier due diligence processes as well as testing and monitoring of UKI suppliers to ensure the relationships remain within our regulatory risk appetite, our supplier organisations are compliant with regulatory risk obligations set out in contracts and to enable alignment with Global and UKI Risk Management policies as well as our supplier code of conduct.

This role is part of the 2nd line of defence CBS Risk Management team, reporting directly into the UK Chief Compliance Officer. This role will work closely with the Financial Crime, Data Protection, Compliance Risk, Independence, Business resilience teams and the Procurement teams, as well as UK Contracts Director & Supply chain lead for the UK and Supplier relationship management teams in the pre contract due diligence processes and in life supplier risk assessment and assurance processes.

Your key responsibilities

  • Development of robust Risk Management (RM) specific components to complement the existing UK supplier due diligence frameworks.

  • Work alongside Financial Crime, Data Protection, Compliance Risk, Independence and Business resilience policy owners to embed the regulatory requirements and compliance expectations in our third-party supplier contracts, and ensure alignment with Global and UKI policies and standards.

  • Work collaboratively with the UK Contracts Director & Supply chain lead to enhance the supplier due diligence and in-life monitoring of vendor contracts not currently going through the established Procurement process.

  • Working with the UK Contracts Director & Supply chain lead, design and manage supplier risk management surveys, to include appropriate assessment areas as part of the in-life relationship management processes

  • Using a risk-based approach, conduct compliance oversight activity include supplier audits as required, during the life of the supplier relationship.

  • Develop and provide Risk Management training needs for EY teams involved in the EY supplier lifecycle and directly within our suppliers.

  • Work collaboratively with global teams including Global vendor management organisation (GVMO), Environmental Social Governance Services (ESGS) and Information Security Supplier Risk Assurance (SRA) to ensure alignment in processes and supplier contact.

  • Act as an escalation point for risk management concerns in service line technology oversight committees (*TOCs) where third-party suppliers are involved.

  • Following up and track to resolution any identified RM issues identified through supplier assurance activity.

  • Preparing reporting for leadership on the conclusions of the reviews and escalation of any relevant matters

Skills and attributes for success

  • Senior manager level with experience of leading supplier due diligence.

  • Compliance experience to a senior manager level: the ability to implement and monitor controls; testing, monitoring, training and record-keeping.

  • Ideally, technical knowledge in the key policy areas (financial crime, independence, data protection and client and engagement acceptance).

  • Commercial awareness of the issues facing the business and the ability to deal with problems in a practical and common-sense way. Apply judgment to resolving complex risk and compliance matters.

  • Ability to establish a high degree of credibility, respect and trust at all levels, including with senior partners of the firm.

  • Ability to lead and take responsibility.

To qualify for the role you must have

  • Strong personal communication skills, capable of dealing with wide a range of people.

  • Effective planning and organisational skills to prioritise key areas of responsibility, tasks and projects.

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Knowledge of Assurance or other regulated activities, and experience of working with regulators would be an asset.
