EY-Parthenon Education is a well-recognized practice in the US and internationally. In 2001, EY-Parthenon was the first of the major strategy consulting firms to launch a dedicated Education practice. Since then, we have completed more than 1,500 education projects in more than 95 countries, including over 150 strategic planning and implementation engagements. Your key responsibilities

EY-Parthenon seeks to hire a vice president with a focus on education broadly defined (higher education and K-12 delivery, as well as product and service providers).

Vice presidents act as the primary client contacts on EY-Parthenon teams and are responsible for translating client needs into project tasks and deliverables. Vice presidents manage day-to-day problem-solving and team analytical activities and serve as key liaisons between consulting team members, Parthenon managing directors and our clients. Vice presidents are also responsible for mentoring, inspiring and developing team staff. Additionally, vice presidents support the growth of the business by working alongside managing directors on new opportunities with potential clients, including preparing for and participating in pitch meetings, creating proposals and working on the sale process.

Our teams work on a variety of client issues. The range of assignments includes developing long-term strategies for organizations, evaluating the potential acquisition of businesses, improving educational achievement outcomes, developing new marketing channel strategies, reducing operating costs and evaluating new business ventures.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Defining the objective and scope of strategy engagements and client deliverables in consultation with the managing director

  • Leading teams in the execution of both nonprofit and for-profit engagements

  • Develop business strategies using tools such as market analysis, customer research, student data, macroeconomic forecasting and portfolio optimization

  • Manage and motivate work streams and teams with diverse skills and background

  • Driving business development activities in key education sectors and internally across the broader EY and Transaction Advisory Services (TAS) organization

  • Participating or leading cross-service line pursuits (involving EY-Parthenon)

  • Develop, manage and mentor junior team members at the associate, senior associate and consultant levels

  • Contributing to the development and publication of EY-Parthenon’s thought leadership in the education space

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • At aminimum, a bachelor's degree with outstanding academic performance and at least eight years of related work experience

  • Three to five years of the work experience should be in a consulting, operating or investment banking role, with a particular focus on client advisory or strategic planning within a professional services environment; some previous management consulting experience is required

  • Experience managing business strategy for education clients is beneficial but not required (e.g., experience working directly in or consulting at a higher education institution, school district, charter school operator or third-party provider to the education sector)

  • Ability to make detailed assessments of industry, products, markets, competitors and customers to identify risks and opportunities

  • Proficient in the English language, including the ability to listen, understand, read and communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, in a professional environment

  • Strong quantitative skills to supervise data analysis, interpret output and generate insights

  • Willingness and ability to travel, when necessary (approximately 25%–50%)

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • An MBA with related work experience with a particular focus on client advisory or strategic planning within a professional services environment

  • Excellent problem-solving, project management, facilitation and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with a demonstrated ability to lead teams on complex assignments and develop individual team members
