In Canada, our Financial Accounting Advisory Services (FAAS) team consists of dedicated accounting advisory professionals in five locations across the country. We combine technical accounting skills in IFRS, Canadian and US GAAP, practical experience in financial reporting as well as deep sector and regulatory knowledge. We have access to a global network of professionals with wide-ranging financial accounting standards knowledge.

We help finance leaders address the strategic accounting challenges and ongoing changes facing their business, and manage the resulting repercussions on the accounting and finance function. We help them achieve their potential in acquisitions, divestitures, optimization/restructuring or accounting standards convergence.

We currently are seeking qualified candidates for an excellent career opportunity in our Financial & Accounting Advisory Services (FAAS) group in Calgary.

Responsibilities

  • Developand maintain productive relationships with client management throughoutthe year.

  • Establishexpectations of value to be delivered.

  • Participatein performing US GAAP, IFRS and Canadian GAAP analysis procedures,especially focusing on complex and/or specialized issues.

  • Consulton implementation of new accounting standards such as IFRS 16 and provideadvisory services on GAAP transitions and adoptions

  • Assessand develop accounting policy, create whitepapers, prepare technicalconsultation memorandum and support all aspects of the accounting function

  • Developand lead training sessions for industry participants in all areas of IFRSand US GAAP

  • Supportand develop service offerings for all spectrums of the CFO agenda

  • Createreports and other deliverables.

  • Understandthe client's industry and recognize key performance drivers, businesstrends, and emerging technical and industry developments.

  • Stayinformed of general business/economic developments and their impact to theclient.

  • Conducttimely performance reviews and provide performance feedback/training. Leadby example.

  • Usetechnology to continually learn, share knowledge with team members, andenhance service delivery.

  • Monitorthe engagement team's progress against the plan and alter it when needed.

  • Generatenew business opportunities and introduce EY service opportunities toexisting engagements.

  • UnderstandEY and its service lines and actively assess/present ways to applyknowledge and services.

  • Developlong-term relationships and networks both internally and externally.

To qualify, candidates must have:

  • Adegree in accounting and/or other appropriate academic major and a minimumof 2-4 years’ relevant experience along with CPA, CA designation

  • Audit,accounting or business experience in financial statement close or theapplication of accounting standards

  • Demonstratemastery of key concepts and principles related to process improvements,project management and change management; show an ability to apply theseconsistently in engagement settings

  • Impeccableclient relationship skills

  • A dedicationto teamwork and leadership

  • Goodcommunication skills, with proficiency in English
