Creative Director, Assistant Director ( Various Locations: Atlanta, Alpharetta, Austin, Chicago, Cleveland, Dallas, Detroit, Houston, Minneapolis, Philadelphia, Phoenix)

As a member of our US Creative Services team, you’ll be joining a high-performing in-house creative agency with a digital-first focus in a culture that is agile and inspires you to be your best self every day. You’ll be leading the creative strategy for an account team and directing project teams who are developing innovative solutions that help drive our client’s business in a world that never stands still.

The opportunity

As a creative director, you are a highly strategic and motivated leader who sets and implements the creative strategy and vision providing high-level design solutions for accounts and client facing teams. You’ll act decisively, project confidence, influence others, act at ease in front of senior client executives, stakeholders and peers, while leading client meetings and inspiring the creative project teams to develop and deliver market leading creative solutions.

You’ll be part of an expansive and talented management team working independently and collaboratively to develop and lead the quality of design across the organization. Your key responsibilities

You can expect to lead creative strategy sessions, develop multifaceted concepts, designs and innovative solutions to meet the client’s business needs. You’ll be responsible for creative development of team members through coaching, and mentoring. You’ll provide thought leadership and recommendations to senior leaders on strategy contributing to meeting business goals and collaborate with Creative Services management to identify, develop and promote the team services to meet the needs of our clients.

You can expect to be setting and implementing the creative strategy, direction and vision for high-level projects and accounts while maintaining the creative quality of concepts throughout Creative Services. You’ll take the lead in translating client objectives into clear, high-level strategies by developing a vision, concept and design for high-level/complex deliverables and priority accounts. You’ll develop creative strategies, briefs and storyboards for priority projects and campaigns that are forward thinking and in-line with current media trends to attract clients. You’ll lead creative brainstorming sessions with internal clients at a strategic level and share new design perspectives to develop innovative and actionable creative initiatives.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a creative team, delegate and team effectively

  • Ability to influence and persuade clients and creative staff to choose an effective design and deliverable solution within budget requirements

  • Passion for continuous learning, keeping current with design trends and effectively sharing knowledge

  • Superb communication and presentation skills, active listening and diplomacy when working with team members and business partners

  • Agility in a fast-paced environment while producing quality work in high-pressure situations

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Portfolio demonstrating proficiency in delivering strategic ideas across varying levels of media and integrated campaigns

  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or related discipline or equivalent experience

  • Eight-plus years of experience as a Creative Director from a full-service advertising, digital creative agency or in-house creative department

  • Five-plus years of experience managing the creative for client accounts

  • Ability to concept and develop outstanding creative with the teams, sell it to clients, and adapt at every step along the way

  • Successful storyteller that can simplify the complex

  • Demonstrated business acumen and strategic thinking skills

  • Strong influencer, collaborator and consensus builder with excellent client relationship-building and teaming skills

  • Experience mentoring and developing designers in conceptual and presentation skills and providing critiques and constructive written feedback for growth and development

  • Superior knowledge with graphics software tools including Adobe Creative Suite, proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook and Teams working in both a PC and Mac environment

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Experience in marketing or business development

  • Design related accreditations such as Adobe certification

  • Comprehensive knowledge in creative industry practices, digital trends, innovation and technology

What we offer

We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The salary range for this job in most geographic locations in the US is $94,300 to $171,200. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $113,200 to $194,600. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Under our flexible vacation policy, you’ll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances. You’ll also be granted time off for designated EY Paid Holidays, Winter/Summer breaks, Personal/Family Care, and other leaves of absence when needed to support your physical, financial, and emotional well-being.
