When our clients enter the intricate world of doing business with the US Government, they rely on us to help them move through the process. Whether the challenge is a contract, grant or cooperative agreement, the rules and regulations in the federal marketplace require the type of experience found in our Government Contract Services (GCS) practice.

The opportunity With the increasing complexities of procurement in government, we’re experiencing rapid growth in GCS. As a Senior Manager in GCS, you’ll contribute to our growth by helping your clients forge financial relationships with some of the largest governmental agencies in the world, including the Department of Defense, NASA, General Services Administration, Department of Energy, and many more.

Your key responsibilities Because of the complexities of government accounting, no two projects will be the same. You’ll use your skills across the entire spectrum of contract services: allowable costs, audits, business systems, investigations, and termination proposals, to name a few. You’ll also be collaborating with colleagues across multiple service lines, so we’ll look to you to build relationships and identify opportunities for our client to benefit from our expertise in other areas.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Provide guidance and participate in the performance of GCS procedures, especially in complex or specialized client matters

  • Managing engagement economics of a portfolio of GCS clients

  • Developing long-term relationships across a network of existing and potential clients to maximize business development opportunities

  • Constantly implement process improvements for contract bidding and estimating systems

  • Developing your team through constant coaching and feedback, providing challenging goals and guaranteeing your people have the skills, knowledge and opportunities to grow

To qualify for the role you must have

  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Law, Economics, Computer Science or other related field of study

  • Approximately 8 years of related work experience

  • At least one professional designation, such as CPA, CFE, CFA

  • In depth experience with Federal Acquisitions Regulations (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS)

  • Excellent project management skills and the ability to prioritize when working on multiple engagements - Strong negotiation and influencing skills, and the confidence to communicate complex technical concepts to a wide range of audiences

  • A quantifiable history of business development success

  • The ability and willingness to travel and work in excess of standard hours when necessary

  • Access to reliable transportation to/from the EY office and client sites. A driver’s license is strongly recommended as ride share and public transportation options may not be available in all locations

What we offer

We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The salary range for this job in most geographic locations in the US is $132,700 to $302,900. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $159,200 to $344,300. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Under our flexible vacation policy, you’ll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances. You’ll also be granted time off for designated EY Paid Holidays, Winter/Summer breaks, Personal/Family Care, and other leaves of absence when needed to support your physical, financial, and emotional well-being.
