Job Summary:

As Q&RM Process Management Associate Director, you'll be recognized as an authority on Independence processes that help the firm to mitigate risk. You'll advise Americas Independence executives on developing and improving critical processes to meet EY's requirements. In addition, you'll create plans to implement processes or improvements and set goals and priorities for the process team. You'll also work with leaders to deliver projects in a timely and efficient manner, taking into account internal and external business and regulatory requirements.

In this role, you'll team with infrastructure and service line professionals from diverse industry sectors and geographic Areas to resolve complex issues. These will relate to Independence processes and associated Quality & Risk Management (Q&RM) and regulatory matters. The projects you'll work on are complex in nature and may impact country performance, ongoing relationships with major clients or important vendor relationships.

You'll be a highly-seasoned professional, with a demonstrated track record of successful process management. You'll have the ability to understand and deal with diverse and highly complex situations, within and outside of Independence and Q&RM.

You'll have fairly broad decision making authority, subject to review by Americas Independence leaders. You'll be closely involved with Americas Independence executives when processes are discussed and will work independently, with periodic feedback.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Process team and drive the interaction with related teams outside of Independence and Q&RM

  • Build and lead multidisciplinary relationships to achieve Process milestones and goals, and to achieve acceptance of and compliance with the process across the firm

  • Working closely with Americas Independence executives, review submissions from client service and infrastructure teams. Consider all process-related issues and concerns and provide and discuss ways to overcome these

  • Manage resource requirements to accomplish the goals of the Process team

  • Drive change initiatives and advocate necessary changes to the process

  • Identify and utilize opportunities to enhance or develop the process, in order to achieve stated goals

  • Apply the latest knowledge and thinking to troubleshoot and ultimately overcome obstacles

  • Manage relationships to meet or exceed client expectations by listening to clients and keeping them up-to-date with progress

  • Gain an understanding of the key requirements of the regulators' Independence rules and firm policies. Develop knowledge about functions other than your own

  • Identify emerging risks and propose ways to mitigate these

  • Demonstrate a high level of general technical knowledge. Keep up-to-date with emerging knowledge, trends and lessons learned in Independence, Q&RM and related areas. Translate this knowledge into action plans and recommendations as appropriate

  • Develop materials reflecting thought leadership. Deliver training and presentations to clients, leaders and team members on the impact of new developments

  • Represent Q&RM at industry, service or geographical Area meetings within EY and externally

  • Through regular interaction, develop relationships and build a network of people within professional networks, Q&RM and across the firm. Use these relationships to proactively identify issues

  • Exercise significant levels of independent judgment and discretion when analyzing complex issues and risk across industry and service lines. Use your significant knowledge and experience, and refer to the firm's Independence and related policies and regulations, to identify appropriate opportunities and new approaches

  • Acting directly or through Independence leaders, make recommendations to service line, Area and industry executives on relationships and other compliance issues

  • Build a strong knowledge of the firm's and regulator's Independence rules and policies

  • Gain familiarity with other Q&RM initiatives outside your function

  • Develop a solid understanding of relevant EY business and a broad knowledge of the firm and its practices

  • Lead Process team members, including assigning work and reviewing performance. This may involve leading virtual teams engaged in aspects of Process initiatives

  • Demonstrate an expanded knowledge of Q&RM/Independence policies when interacting with executive leaders. Communicate process(es), identify and resolve issues and mitigate risk factors associated with Q&RM/Independence initiatives

  • Take responsibility for complex Q&RM/Independence projects

  • Help train and mentor Q&RM/Independence team members to handle more complex issues

  • Coach leaders and team members of client service and infrastructure teams, to keep them up-to-date on firm processes and policies

  • Demonstrate a proactive approach and thought leadership on Process issues

To qualify, candidates must have:

  • Ability to lead local or virtual teams, demonstrating natural authority

  • Adept at delegating to, motivating, and mentoring, team members

  • Project management skills

  • Competent at thinking strategically and handling complex concepts

  • Ability to solve problems across multiple service lines, industry sectors and geographic Areas

  • Proficient at driving and adapting to change

  • Confident at delivering tough messages to executive leaders within the firm

  • English language skills - excellent written and verbal communication

  • Strong listening and interpretation skills

  • Ability to successfully handle multiple projects and initiatives concurrently

  • Good working knowledge of computers and common software packages

  • A minimum of 10-12 years related experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
