The EY Public Policy function focuses on the public policy and regulatory issues that affect EY’s businesses, our profession and the broader capital markets. Our dialogue with policy makers, regulators, investors and other stakeholders helps inform our views and actions as we navigate the complexity of operating across the globe in over 150 countries.

At EY we regularly meet with regulators, legislators and other industry stakeholders seeking not only to better understand their points-of-view and provide our perspective, but to also collaborate on key initiatives affecting our businesses. We also regularly team with other EY disciplines to ensure our global insights and experiences are used to benefit our external stakeholders in these market initiatives.
Your key responsibilities
Working with a network of colleagues across EY, the Assistant Director will be responsible for helping to implement EY global public policy initiatives. He or she will work closely with the Global Vice Chair, Public Policy and the Global Deputy Vice Chair, Public Policy, as well as GPP Directors and team and public policy Area teams across the globe.
The role will oversee development of relevant content (e.g., presentations, talking points, point of views, etc.) that will be used to facilitate GPP’s engagement with Stakeholders, both externally and internally, including EY Global leadership.
The role will involve monitoring, researching, analyzing and reporting on global public policy and stakeholder perspectives of interest to EY and the accounting profession (e.g., in areas such as climate change, technology, data privacy, long-term value, etc.), as well as help to formulate advocacy strategies.
The role will forge effective professional relationships within the organization across multiple functions including Service Lines, Office of General Counsel, Risk Management and Communications.
The role will support the Global Vice Chair, Global Deputy Vice Chair and GPP Directors in optimizing interactions with and further develop relationships with public policy stakeholders, including through close monitoring of policy and regulatory developments.
The role will also manage its own portfolio of work; delegate tasks as needed with coordination of the GPP Directors.
Skills and attributes for success
Ability to produce regular on-going presentations and briefing materials, ensuring that material aspects of regulatory changes and or developments are highlighted (actual or potential).
An understanding of and passion for the global public policy and regulatory environment.
Ability to identify and analyze public policy developments, put them into context and identify/communicate key concerns and insights.
Ability to oversee multiple tasks concurrently, on varying topics.
Strategic thinking skills and experience addressing complex challenges.
Agility to pivot to emerging issues and tasks of an urgent nature.
Good writing skills and ability to appropriately tailor communications to different types of internal and external audiences
Ability to navigate across EY’s service lines and functions at a Global and Area level
To qualify for the role you must have
6+ years experience in professional services or public policy; financial services experience (preferred)
Supervisory experience, strong team player, comfortable working collaboratively, transparently, virtually and independently
Ability to synthesize complex information from various resources
Business and commercial acumen to understand EY’s business and the potential impact of regulation
Ability to work in a fast pace environment, managing multiple priorities effectively
Strong analytical and communication skills
Ability to deal with unexpected or last-minute requests, while executing more regular tasks and projects
Demonstrable integrity and discretion with sensitive and confidential information
Ideally, you’ll also have
Knowledge of reporting, audit, tax, economic crime issues, innovative technologies, and/or ESG matters
Project Management skills
MS Office and other media skills
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent university degree is required
Minimum 6 years’ work experience (or graduate degree plus 5 years’ work experience)
