Your key responsibilities

This is a client-facing role dedicated to developing and serving our Aerospace & Defense clients in the US. You will be responsible for managing one, or more, high-performing engagement teams at an executive level within the practice and the firm. You will be working closely with clients at all levels to understand, analyze, design, formulate, evaluate, recommend and implement projects in your specific functional areas at your clients to drive sustainable impact.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Demonstrate in-depth technical capabilities and professional knowledge in your functional area of aerospace and defense sector. The functional areas could be in supply chain, sourcing, manufacturing operations, digital enablement and transformation, finance, or some combination thereof

  • Demonstrated aptitude for analytics, both quantitative and qualitative

  • Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, in writing and verbally to drive changes and improvements at clients

  • Demonstrate ability to quickly learn new processes and uncover new offering that may assist current customer base

  • Provide mentoring and motivate diverse client engagement teams by delivering constructive on-the-job coaching to team members, while fostering an innovative and inclusive team-oriented work environment

  • Drive high-quality work within expected timeframes and on budget. Monitor progress, manage risk and ensure clients are kept informed about progress and expected outcomes

  • Build relationships with client personnel and deliver quality client services. Strive to assist our clients uncover additional areas of opportunity and manage the business development process

  • Understand EY and its service lines and actively assess what the firm can deliver to serve clients

  • Use your knowledge to mentor and lead a team of professionals on multiple projects

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • A bachelor's degree or master's degree

  • Around 3-5 years of experience in Aerospace & Defense consulting environment

  • Prior work experience at an aerospace or defense company – e.g., airframers, defense primes, subsystem supplier, Tier I/II supplier, or service provider

  • Bring your expertise focusing on several facets of the aerospace & defense industry including, but not limited to go to industry trends in one or more of the following segments: commercial aerospace, defense, business aviation, space, commercial MRO, military sustainment

  • We would expect for you to be available to travel outside of their assigned office location at least 80% of the time

  • A driver's license and valid passport is required

  • Work with Aerospace & Defense subsector leaders to develop to build a book of business and lead the client development and proposal process for targeted / assigned clients

Ideally, you'll also have

  • A bachelor's degree, a master's degree focusing on engineering, supply chain, IT consulting, marketing, finance and/ or business strategy

  • Deep knowledge in one of the specific areas of expertise or work experience – some examples are: program management, program performance improvement, procurement, strategic or market-based sourcing of components & assemblies, managing production operations, managing service shop operations, services contract management, smart factory or digital manufacturing initiatives, enterprise or business unit indirect / direct cost reduction, optimizing inventory / improving working capital, improving pricing, managing P&Ls, etc.

  • Willingness to travel up to 80%, valid driver's license and US passport required
