The Opportunity:

The Tax Strategic Initiatives Management (TSIM) group is called upon to drive strategic initiatives for the Americas Tax practice and lead high impact change initiatives.

A project manager in TSIM can play different roles:

  • They may be assigned as a PM for a department within Tax and work with that deparment's leadership to define and execute a portfolio of projects specific to that Tax deparment. In this role, the department PM would serve as a portfolio project manager - overseeing a portfolio of strategic initiatives for the department and work with leadership to prioritize and execute them in a consistent fashion.

  • Another role a TSIM project manager may play is as a member of the PM Cener of Excellence managing discrete projects or workstreams within a larger Tax department or across several Tax department programs.

All PMs are expected to actively manage projects either in a lead and/or in a co-PM role.

Main areas of focus for the group include: Transformation initiatives (standardize, centralize, automate), Growth (increasing client base, expanding client base), Innovation, acquisition (due diligence and integration)

Your key responsibilities:

  • Project manage one or more projects / programs through all PM phases: initiation, planning, executing, monitoring, and closing and managing scope, budget, time, and quality, as agreed.

  • Structure projects and programs for success at the outset and be flexible to adjust as needed.

  • Establish governance, communication plan and change management plan to facilitate smooth execution and successful project outcomes.

  • Execute PM methodologies appropriate for the business objectives taking into account stakeholders’ presences.

  • Collaborate with other Tax Strategic Initiatives Management group team members, share / leverage methodologies, knowledge and leading practices

  • Build relationships and maintain stakeholder engagement.

  • Drive OneEY behaviors and lead by example

Skills and attributes for success :

  • Strong demonstrated ability to lead projects, programs, project management offices and project portfolios

  • Ability to juggle multiple projects at the same time, work with diverse resources and functions

  • Proficient in change management including developing messaging, communications, training and measurement

  • Ability to lead and motivate teams

  • Strong relationship building skills

  • Ability to think strategically with strong reasoning and analytical skills

  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written, using a consultative approach and demonstrating an ability to clearly communicate ideas and expectations

  • Demonstrated influencing skills with the ability to achieve results and be solution-oriented

  • Ability to instill a level of trust in leaders and influence at all levels of the organization

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • 7+ years of relevant professional services / business Project Management experience.

  • Experience leading transformation initiatives

  • Experience working in a global, matrix organization

  • Bachelor’s degree in business/related field, or equivalent work experience

  • Proven advanced problem-solving skills

  • Strategic thinking and strong consultative skills to work with senior leaders in the firm to define and stand-up projects and then to execute them to achieve the desired business objectives.

  • Clear and effective communication skills, executive presence and strong project management skills and experience in a complex matrix professional services firm.

  • Since many initiatives focus on change, an understanding and experience managing large change management initiatives is highly preferred

  • Experience with acquisition due diligence and post deal integration projects, given the important role acquisitions play in EY's growth strategy is preferred.

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • PMP certification. Expected to complete a certification within first year in this role.

  • MBA or Advanced Degree
