Ernst & Young IT Services is responsible for planning, developing and managing all the technology used in EY. Employing more than 3,700 people in over 100 countries and serving over 200,000 employees, we are organized into nine different functions. This includes the internal-facing Strategy and Research function for Information Security. This function guides EY’s security capability planning and adoption. The Emerging Technology Security Research team, as a part of Strategy and Research, provides research and assessments related to innovative technology.

Information Security takes a proactive approach to protecting EY’s brand through robust technical security controls, a clearly defined security strategy and ongoing compliance and incident management programs designed to detect and protect against increasingly sophisticated threats against the organization.

The opportunity

The Information Security Strategist is responsible for assisting in the research, definition, and creation of the Information Security Strategy for the firm. Important aspects are insight and knowledge surrounding security technology adoption, the secure integration of emerging architectures and services, and contributing to the long-term firm objectives providing an information security perspective. This role is in support of the Global Lead for Information Security Strategy. The focus area of this role is the security disciplines around, but not limited to: infrastructure protection, email, network, and virtual and physical servers.

Your key responsibilities

  • Subject-matter expertise across all relevant technical security domains

  • Experience with new and emerging technologies such as cloud services and infrastructure, mobility models, and big data concepts and usage and how those relate to enterprise security technology/controls; the areas of focus include vulnerability management, cyber security, and data protection disciplines

  • Managing security as a business is important to the firm and setting the tone and strategic direction of this focus area is a part of the role

  • Spear-heading and ownership of innovative concepts and architectural areas across our technical security domains

  • Oversight and development of technical security strategies

  • Review and assessment of technical security roadmaps aligned against strategic direction

  • Management of research and short-term innovation projects exploring new security technology

  • Creating and maintaining working partnerships with architecture, engineering, and operations to understand needs, feasibility of strategic recommendations, and impact to organizations and people; relationship management is a key role function

  • Development of written documents (English) and presentations at various levels of the organization – from technical to executive

  • Ability to liaise and a strong comfort level with Executives and Senior Leadership

Skills and attributes for success

  • Email Security – e.g., spam and malware protection, phishing detection, data loss prevention

  • Endpoint Security – e.g., anti-virus, firewall, endpoint encryptions technologies, port/device controls and network access control

  • Network and Perimeter Security – e.g., firewalls, IDS/IPS, secure remote access and secure file transfer

  • Cloud, mobile, and other emerging technology security areas

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Development, implementation and maintenance of the global information security strategy programs and directions

  • Developing requirements which support key strategy recommendations based on business, regulatory, and policy mandates.

  • Clear and methodical writing for technical and information security papers and presentations (English)

  • Relationship management and consensus building

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • IT Strategy Development

  • Strategic Roadmap Development

  • Enterprise Architecture
