Join our Tax Knowledge Group and be a vital part of our learning and training culture in Tax. You’ll cease opportunities to market our service lines where there are new legal and policy developments by working with the service line team to issue appropriate updates and/or newsletters.

The opportunity

You’ll be given opportunity to provide innovative know-how solutions for one of the leading tax practices in Malaysia. You’ll also work closely with other practice areas, such as Assurance and Brand, Marketing and Communications. You’ll operate at the cutting edge of many areas of tax law and have the opportunity to influence industry and market practice. Knowledge management is a strategic priority for the corporate tax group so your input will be highly valued.

Your key responsibilities

  • You’ll identify tax developments that are relevant to our practice and their practical impact and communicating this to the tax team internally.

  • You’ll work with other service lines to see how such tax developments can be marketed in a timely manner to nurture and grow our client base.

  • You’ll attending to tax technical queries sent by our tax team internally and establishing “firm views”.

  • You’ll helping to shape and improve on the current internal training and supporting materials.

  • You’ll updating relevant EY tax publications including preparing the regular EY tax alerts that are sent to selected clients (bi-monthly).

  • You’ll working with the IT Team to develop “fast gateways” to help the tax team access relevant tax knowledge as efficiently as possible.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Strong drafting, communication and presentation skills.

  • Excellent inter-personal skills in order to be able to establish a rapport with tax staff at all levels as well as other departments within the firm.

  • Have the enthusiasm to encourage and share new ideas and approaches

  • Be creative and willing to think outside the box.

  • Be able to demonstrate enthusiasm and aptitude for IT and its uses for the dissemination of knowledge, both internally and externally

  • Be commercial and practical and able to understand and work towards the business’ strategic objectives.

To qualify for the role you must have

  • A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Tax law or a related field

  • Minimum of 8 years of work experience in business tax advisory or a related field

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • A professional qualification in Tax

  • A broad and deep knowledge of corporate tax and experience in advising on corporate tax matters

  • Familiar with using legal research tools (including online sources such as CCH IntelliConnect)

  • Experience of delivering training on tax matters
