The Opportunity:

A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced legal cashier to help set up and run the client account within our rapidly growing Law business. The legal cashier will help to ensure we maintain strict adherence to the Solicitors Accounts Rules (“SARs”). This is a part time position, 21 hours per week, with flexible working arrangements available. The role will either be based in London or Manchester.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Initially to work with Law Leadership in managing the set-up of functions and processes required to ensure expert and compliant operation of the client account

  • Reconciling all client account banking transactions on a daily basis and controlling the client account process, including logging, reviewing and allocating incoming client funds

  • Responsibility for ensuring payments to or from the client account are made on a timely basis and are properly recorded

  • Ensuring all relevant transactions are recorded in the appropriate manner, including processing and reconciling professional disbursements

  • Payment of professional disbursements in line with SAR

  • Dealing with clients when receiving payments and when refunds are required

  • Consulting with clients on relevant client account matters

  • Scrutinising large transactions

  • Working closely with our Finance team to support the integrity of the Law financial results and working capital

  • Keeping up to date on the SAR and ensuring EY follows best practice

  • Reporting any breaches of the SAR to the firm’s COFA and keeping a log of any such breaches

  • Keeping abreast of ongoing business activities and advise as appropriate

  • Assisting in the preparation of any regulatory submissions and reports

Skills and Attributes for Success:

  • Extensive and up to date knowledge and experience of the Solicitors Accounts Rules

  • Previous experience of electronic banking systems and managing a client account

  • Demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team to build and maintain professional relationships

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and work to tight deadlines

  • Attention to detail and ability to demonstrate initiative

To Qualify for the Role you must have:

The Institute of Legal Finance & Management (ILFM) Diploma
