Momentum Event Designer (Senior Manager)
EY Momentum is our collaborative event design and delivery centre in Canary Wharf. We combine proven collaboration methodologies and state-of-the-art technology to reinvent the way we define our clients’ problems and help them answer their big questions. Events in Momentum bring key people together to gain new perspectives, generate intent and accelerate complex transformations.
The role will also offer the successful candidate the opportunity to work alongside our most senior clients, across a portfolio of short, fast paced projects (typically 4-6 weeks) that culminate in a collaborative event. You will work across the business (FSO and UKI) and across service lines, gaining exposure to a broad range of senior client discussions regarding strategic business challenges.
You will have a broad spectrum of expertise, including existing experience in the majority of the skills below and an appetite to develop further.
Your key responsibilities
Reporting to the Momentum Lead, the Event Designer is primarily responsible for:
Working with the EY account team to scope opportunities and identify their fit for the centre and alignment to the Momentum business case
Leading a team including the EY account team, client and facilitator to understand their ‘IQ and EQ outcomes’ and develop ½ - 2 day ‘experiences’
Taking end-to-end ownership (design and facilitation) mid-size and large events, establishing the creative direction of events, from conception through to completion
Strong project management throughout the event lifecycle, role modelling good ways of working and coaching the junior teams members
Providing coaching to the account/ client teams throughout the design process to shape their inputs/ content in line with the technology and ethos of the centre
Contributing to the continued development of the centre, through supporting areas such as methodology development, marketing and building the pipeline.
Leveraging collaborative event design methodologies to generate creative ideas / themes for an event, ensuring that each client experiences a tailor-made event identity. Anticipates what clients want and design immersive experiences to deliver on their needs
Crafting a professional, holistic end-to-end experience for each event, combining environment design, graphics and technology to create the desired atmosphere
Visualising and illustrating event designs from conceptual mood board to the final output, as well as detailing the event narrative in a storyboard format (or similar)
Assisting in the preparation of proposals, tender documents, presentations etc.
Leading the post-event follow-up process, ensuring that all outputs are packaged and distributed suitably
Taking responsibility for capability and development in response to developing use cases
Participating in external and internal marketing, ensuring that messaging is aligned to Momentum’s use cases.
Skills and attributes for success
Excellent communications (written and verbal) skills and executive presence
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills are essential
Strong working knowledge of a professional services organization.
Project management experience – able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Possesses a deep understanding of the key business and financial drivers that determine the firm's success – particularly our business development and go-to-market strategy
Ability to work with the uppermost levels within the firm and build solid relationships with multiple internal groups
Deep knowledge of the firm’s business development/go-to-market strategies
Substantial prior experience with collaborative event methodology
To qualify for the role you must have
- Experience of taking end-to-end ownership (design and facilitation) mid-size and large events, establishing the creative direction of events, from conception through to completion
Ideally you’ll also have
- Knowledge of the Professional Services environment
