Our Financial Services Organisation is a unique, industry-focused practice, and our Transformation Execution Wholesale Banking Capital Markets consulting team is an integral part of our offering. With strong functional capabilities and a wide range of knowledge, our clients – typically top tier investment banks, market infrastructure providers and regulators - look to us for advice they can rely on every time.

We are looking for Senior Consultants with strong delivery track record across Capital Markets and Wholesale Banking, to help our clients with their most pressing issues:

  1. implementation of end-to-end transformation of business processes and controls

  2. design of target business operating models

  3. implementation of regulatory change.

The opportunity

Our Wholesale Banking and Capital Markets Transformation Execution team consists of a variety of professionals from both consulting and industry backgrounds.

Our team supports our clients in their operating model transformation journeys, whether it’s regulatory, cost or process driven. We are a passionate team, with deep knowledge of industry trends and strong execution track record across the whole trade lifecycle.

We are looking to expand by recruiting people with an outstanding delivery background, Wholesale Banking or/and Capital Markets knowledge and experience, who have the right attitude and commitment needed to work together on complex projects and programmes.

Your Key Responsibilities

As a Manager within our Transformation Execution Business Consulting team you will specialise in Capital Markets and Wholesale Banking sector and will work closely with our clients, and assist senior management in leading engagement teams, provide valuable insight and advice to support clients to make strategic and operational decisions about their business. You will contribute to the continued success and growth of the business and the practice, alongside some of the most highly regarded colleagues within the Financial Services industry.

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Delivering of large- scale projects by managing the project team, assessing engagement risks, driving conclusions, and reviewing / challenging the output produced by the team

  • Designing, developing and implementing strategic and operational initiatives for our clients

  • Driving innovation by creating an environment that encourages innovation and being a leader in this area by implementing new and improved ways of working, delivery models and / or technological advancements

  • Developing strong internal and external networks for long term relationships, managing EY accounts and to bring all of EY to clients

  • Establishing and managing effective working relationships with peer-level clients as part of project delivery roles

  • Delivering for our clients

  • Delivering of large- scale projects by managing the project team, assessing engagement risks, driving conclusions, and reviewing / challenging the output produced by the team

  • Designing, developing and implementing strategic and operational initiatives for our clients

  • Driving innovation by creating an environment that encourages innovation and being a leader in this area by implementing new and improved ways of working, delivery models and / or technological advancements

  • Developing strong internal and external networks for long term relationships, managing EY accounts and to bring all of EY to clients

  • Establishing and managing effective working relationships with peer-level clients as part of project delivery roles

  • Enabling the development of our practice

  • Undertaking practice development activities including contributing to thought leadership pieces, running industry events, delivering training or managing team communications

  • Training, coaching, counselling and supervising junior staff as well as monitoring staff availability, chargeability and supporting the development of less utilised staff

  • Contributing to the development of your own and the team's technical skills by establishing a culture of highest performing teams, inclusive behaviours, and emotional intelligence

  • Providing quality assurance and monitoring risks, managing assignment teams and third parties, liaising with service line teams, functional specialists and Area Partners

  • Supporting our go-to-market and solution efforts

  • Leading proposals and bid teams in delivery of high-quality proposals

  • Contributing to business development activities to help identify and research opportunities on new / existing clients, and co-leading proposals and bid teams and managing the development and delivery of high-quality proposals with senior management

  • Identifying opportunities for securing new business

  • Keeping up to date with industry news and developments

Skills and attributes for success

  • Self-starter, with excellent communication and presentation skills

  • Confident and comfortable with uncertainty and ambiguity in a project environment

  • Demonstrate expertise across engagement and practice teams

  • Always display excellent communication and presentation skills to people across all levels of an organisation

  • Knowledge of the key issues and challenges currently facing Change managers, COOs and CCOs in the financial services sector

  • Take personal responsibility for the quality of delivery

  • Instil a positive team mentality, even when under pressure, by treating their colleagues well and creating an inclusive culture

  • Comfortable and confident around senior stakeholders, internally and externally including presenting, leading meeting and working sessions

  • Extremely comfortable with Excel and PowerPoint. Much of our work involves detailed analysis and report writing, so it is critical you can work with these tools

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Experience of working in a consulting and transformation role in financial services (Capital Market and Wholesale Banking), or a transformation role in industry, focusing on the following topics:

  • Operations transformation

  • Post-trade operations

  • Process re-engineering and digitisation in capital markets

  • Client lifecycle management

  • Controls optimisation

  • Experience in assisting in delivery of regulatory change programmes in Capital Market and Wholesale banking, for example:

  • Front office controls

  • Regulatory change e.g. MIFID, IBOR, RAF, CSDR, BREXIT

  • Client lifecycle management

  • Demonstrable experience of supporting change gained from:

  • hands-on consulting experience at a Big 4, or top tier consulting firm within Financial Services

  • change functions / programmes at a Financial Services organisation

  • managing change through Line function at a Financial Services organisation

  • Demonstrable of deep Sector knowledge

  • Deep understanding of current market trends in Capital Markets

  • Specialisation in at least one asset class / regulation / particular function

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • A strong interest and commitment to developing and delivering leading edge solutions to insurance industry clients

  • Experience delivering at various stages of the project lifecycle, knowledge of Project Management, Business Analysis, SDLC and/or AGILE methodology
