The opportunity

Ernst & Young LLP’s (EY) US Government and Public Sector (GPS) practice is a robust and emerging practice with tremendous potential for growth – and we are prepared to tap into that potential. Our US GPS practice combines an understanding of the public sector’s diverse needs, focused on delivering improved public services, with private sector leading practices. We respond to our client’s issues by bringing together highly skilled professionals across Consulting, Assurance, Tax and Strategy and Transactions. This integrated approach facilitates multidimensional support and flexibility to meet our clients changing needs.

Your key responsibilities

You will support federal clients in technology transformation strategy and initiatives. Specifically, you can expect to support a cross-functional team in performing research and data collection across business, data, application, and technology domains using industry leading best practices and frameworks. You can also expect to apply consulting, assignment management, and functional skills throughout the execution of work, and assist with researching topics and preparing briefs. You will be expected to work effectively as team member, sharing responsibilities with your peers; provide all necessary support to your peers and leadership; guide junior staff and review their work, and be able to communicate and update the management team on progress made. We’ll look to you to act as a role model for EY’s core values and maintain and expand client relationships through the delivery of high-quality work.

Skills and attributes for Success

  • Leadership skills and excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Experience in software development lifecycle methodologies and work products usually created in the system implementation efforts

  • Ability to independently prioritize, plan and execute tasks in a rapidly changing, fast-paced environment

  • Critical thinking, strong analytical, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to present findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Ability to understand and communicate complex concepts

  • Experience in helping with business development and proposals

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering (civil, electrical, electronic, chemical, industrial, mechanical, aeronautical, or computer science) and approximately 2-5 years of related work experience

Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance or higher, which will be driven by the engagement requirement

The EY Government and Public Sector Practice’s staffing model is to assign resources to projects aligned to the office within the metropolitan area you have been hired; however, in certain circumstances, travel may be required within and/or beyond your geographic region based on client and project needs. For roles within the federal practice, the flexibility to travel up to approximately 30% is preferred. Within the state, local and education practice, the flexibility to travel up to approximately 80% is preferred.

Proximity to the Washington D.C. Metro area

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Understanding of emerging technologies e.g. Blockchain, Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robotics Process Automation (RPA).

  • Understanding of Cloud Technologies, DevOps, Agile, and Project Management

  • Participated in improving operational efficiency on projects and internal initiatives

  • Federal or DoD experience

  • Secret Clearance or higher
