The US Government & Public Sector (GPS) practice of Ernst & Young LLP combines private sector leading practice with an understanding of the public sector’s diverse needs, focused on delivering improved public services.

The opportunity

The broad business perspective you get in EY’s GPS practice will serve as a launch pad to your career. The successful candidate will interface with all levels of EY personnel and numerous government agencies to ensure contract security compliance with 32 CFR Part 117, NISPOM Rule . Along the way, you’ll develop a deep understanding of the inner workings of business and federal government agencies.

Your Key Responsibilities

In a world where information is key, protecting information is far more than protecting words on paper or bits on a computer. Protecting classified information means protecting our resources and intellectual property, protecting the lives of our military personnel, protecting our national security, and protecting our very way of life. You will spend your time ensuring that EY is in compliance with government security requirements.

  • Assisting the Facility Security Officer (FSO) to ensure inspections, reviews, investigations, and other reportable issues are compliant with The Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) and Department of Defense (DoD) sponsor standards.

  • Assisting the FSO with creating, coordinating, and implementing security policies and procedures pertaining to the safeguarding of classified information according to the NISPOM, DCIDs, and ICDs.

  • Assisting the FSO with collateral and TS/SCI security clearance function/processes and related activities including classified visits both inside and outside of EY.

  • Assisting with the clearance process of all new and current employees for classified and public trust contracts.

  • Operating multiple security databases

  • Investigating and reporting security violations and adverse information reports with the appropriate security agency; prepares reports specifying preventive action to be taken; participate in internal investigations; establish and maintain working relationships with government and internal customers on security related issues.

  • Conducting self-inspections for EY as required.

  • Administering the EY Annual Security Education/Training to cleared personnel.

To qualify for the role you must have

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in Political Science, Government/Legal studies, National Security, Criminal Justice, Communications, etc)

  • A strong academic record (3.0 or higher GPA), including, without limitation, course work that EY deems relevant to this position

  • The ability and willingness to travel (very limited travel)

  • A driver’s license valid in the U.S.

  • Excellent critical thinking and analysis skills, and the confidence to identify and resolve problems

  • A genuine passion for protecting national security, and the resilience to prioritize and adapt in a demanding, fast-moving, constantly changing environment

  • Strong Microsoft Access skills

  • The ability to work from EY’s Mclean and Arlington, VA offices, a minimum of three days per week.

  • Candidates interested in the Government & Public Sector focus must have U.S. citizenship and be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance and be able to pass a full scope polygraph.

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Completion of Defense Support of Civil Authorities (DSCA) course is a plus

  • A passion for activities outside of your studies, especially promoting your ability to collaborate as part of a diverse team

  • An eagerness to learn how our clients operate across different government agencies

What we offer

We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The salary range for this job in most geographic locations in the US is $53,800 to $94,800. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $64,600 to $107,700. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Under our flexible vacation policy, you’ll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances.
