Our Strategy and Transactions (SaT) service line works with clients to manage their capital agenda to drive competitive advantage and increased returns. As part of a global team of 10,000 professionals in 100 countries you will assist private equity and corporate clients preserve, optimise, raise and invest capital. The Oceania Deal Origination Team (DOH) is a dedicated team within SaT focused on identifying unique and proprietary deals and investment trends for EY’s client base comprising Australia’s most respected private equity and corporate investors across all major market segments.
We are looking for an Associate Director or Director within the Deal Origination Team in ourMelbourne office.
This role is offered on a full time or part time, flexible basis. We welcome applications from individuals wishing to work less than 5 days a week.
The DOH works closely with the major sub-service lines within SaT including M&A Lead Advisory, Transaction Diligence, Strategy Consulting, Restructuring Services and Operational Transaction Services. The DOH is a market facing team focused on delivering innovative insights on potential transactions and unique angles for upcoming deals in the market.
Join our Melbourne-based team for a fantastic opportunity to be part of one of the fastest growing, market-leading origination teams in Oceania. We are looking for a Director or Associate Director in Melbourne with a passion for corporate strategy, M&A, private equity and value creation in a deal environment. As part of our team, you will help clients develop their growth strategies, evaluate potential transactions, determine the best way to raise, invest, optimise and preserve their capital.
Your key responsibilities
Lead and manage client projects related to acquisitions by private equity investors and strategic corporate buyers including comprehensive target searches and the development of value creation investment theses
Actively build and maintain relationships with the investment teams in our key PE and corporate clients
Identify potential transactions and develop unique and proprietary investment trends in the market working closely with our market segment teams, EY’s Entrepreneur Of The Year community as well as utilising your own ingenuity and personal networks
Actively contribute to the ongoing development and implementation of DOH’s strategy and interaction with sub-service lines across SaT and the broader Oceania firm
Manage and develop DOH’s dedicated research team, and
Support the personal and professional development of junior staff
Skills and attributes for success
Self-driven, creative and intellectually curious with a passion for complex problem solving
Outstanding communicator (written and verbal communication skills) in both formal and informal/social settings
Talented relationship builder
Related work experience in M&A (in-house or advisory), private equity, strategy/management consulting, transaction services and/or restructuring
Strong analytical skills and proven intellectual agility to drive the ‘big-picture’ whilst still getting the details right
Experience in leading and developing small teams of ambitious, highly capable professionals
A strong work ethic and the ability to adapt to new challenges and ideas in a collaborative team environment
Ideally you will also have
- A bachelors or master’s degree in accounting, business,finance or economics
