Within EY’s Tax group, we are currently seeking qualified candidates for an excellent career and leadership opportunity as a Manager in our Private Client Services (PCS) practice. Our PCS subject matter specialistsprovideadvice to high net worth business owners and individuals on domestic and cross-border tax planning, estate, wealth transfer and post mortem planning, asset protection strategies and philanthropic planning. Our PCS team works closely with our client’s family offices acting as the tax advisor to families and family offices.

  • Identify tax, trust and estate planning opportunities and prepare correspondence and memoranda describing the income tax implications of implementing transactions

  • Research tax issues that arise from planning or compliance work using a variety of online sources and prepare tax memoranda

  • Liaise with the client’s legal counsel

  • Prepare and/or review personal, corporate, trust and charity tax returns

  • Verify tax assessments

  • Liaise with Canada Revenue Agency and relevant provincial ministries on client issues

  • Correspond with audit managers, staff and/or clients in answering clients’ specific personal, trust or corporate tax queries or about matters that arise from compliance or planning work

  • Prepare and/or review tax election forms and Notices of Objection

  • Assist and manage the administration of personal, corporate and trust tax compliance seasons

  • Manage/mentor/coach staff

  • Carry out administrative work such as, prepare fee analyses, invoices and letters to clients

To qualify for this challenging and rewarding position that offers an excellent opportunity for career advancement, candidates must have:

  • An undergraduate or graduate degree in accounting and/or other appropriate academic major

  • 3 – 5 years of relevant tax experience or equivalent experience in business or industry

  • Possess a Canadian CPA or CA designation, or a reciprocal CA designation

  • Fluently bilingual in English and French

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • Completed the In-Depth Tax Course (or equivalent)

  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrate ability to be proactive, use own judgment and work independently as part of a team

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with attention to detail

  • The ability to effectively manage multiple tasks in a fast paced and high volume environment with keen attention to client needs

  • The ability to demonstrate sound judgment regarding confidential and sensitive matters
