Job Summary:

The Data Engineer - Production is a seasoned data engineer responsible for building and maintaining the state-of-the-art data pipelines that make our data accessible to the tax data platform spanning multiple sub-service lines. He/she will work closely with Process Owners, Data Stewards, Product Managers, DBAs and other key parts of the business across the globe to understand data requirements and build appropriate solutions that meet or exceed those needs.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • 1-2 years of customer-facing experience in data services or consulting

  • 5 years of relevant work experience in data

  • Ability to write, analyze, and debug SQL queries

  • Experience in the Big Data space (Hadoop Stack like M/R, HDFS, Pig, Hive, etc.)

  • Knowledge of data modeling for both data warehousing and Big Data

  • Experience in engineering large-scale distributed systems in a production environment

  • Experience with an OO programming language like Java a bonus

  • Experience working with RESTful APIs.

  • Experience working on big data pipelines.

  • Strong data engineering experience.

  • Strong scripting experience using Python/Perl/R.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implementing ETL processes in a big data environment

  • Integrating Big Data tools and frameworks required to provide requested capabilities

  • Monitoring performance and advising any necessary infrastructure changes

To qualify, candidates must have:

  • Management of big data clusters, with all included services

  • Ability to solve any ongoing issues with our big data platform

  • Proficiency with Hadoop v2, MapReduce, HDFS, HDI

  • Good knowledge of Big Data querying tools, such as Pig and Hive

  • Experience with integration of data from multiple data sources

  • Experience with the Azure or AWS stacks

  • Experience with NoSQL databases, such as HBase, Cassandra, MongoDB

  • Knowledge of various ETL techniques and frameworks

  • Experience with various messaging systems, such as Kafka a plus

  • Experience with Big Data machine learning toolkits a plus

  • Minimum of 8-10 years of relevant work experience

  • An advanced degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience
