The opportunity

EY advises clients to understand, architect, select and implement bleeding edge solutions required to efficiently run their businesses, with a focus on Digital and Cloud. These service areas span E-commerce, Solution Architecture, Web Applications, Mobile Applications, Digital Platform Architecture, Digital Technology Strategy, and Digital IT Operations

This is a rapidly growing area, so you will have plenty of opportunity to spread your wings and develop your skillset to keep up with the ever growing demands of the digital landscape. Most of your time will be spent embedded with our clients’ team and we’ll look to you to provide our clients with a unique business perspective on how they must continue to innovate and remain competitive in this ever changing industry.

Your key responsibilities

We are currently seeking an innovative, disciplined, and results-oriented Software Development Manager with relevant digital transformation, innovation leadership, and software development experience to lead teams of full stack developers within EY’s Digital and Emerging Technology practice.

  • You are experienced in leading, coaching and mentoring software developers

  • You have excellent communication skills with which to build relationships, trust, and respect, and are able to leverage this to grow people and the organization

  • You are knowledgeable and passionate about current development best practices across web, mobile, services and CMS

  • You have demonstrated strong leadership skills while working with engineers

  • You are excited about making culture choices that positively impact the team

  • You have familiarity and experience operating in complex tech organizations that work with a product that handles users at scale, making use of agile methodologies and tools

To qualify for the role you must have

  • Experience leading multiple engineering teams and projects/products simultaneously

  • A proven track record of building and managing high performing engineering teams.

  • Knowledge of professional software engineering best practices for the full software development life cycle (coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations)

  • 3+ years of hands-on technical leadership and people management experience.

  • Experience architecting, designing, deploying and maintaining new software applications at scale

  • Experience with agile development methodologies and engineering systems

  • Experience managing development and deployment life cycles, has familiarity with best practices in DevOps

  • Develop functional and delightful user experiences across web, mobile, service and CMS

  • Contribute to premier full-stack application development from concept to release

  • Collaborate with an agile cross functional team of developers, testers, designers & product managers

  • Consistently deliver performant, testable, scalable, highly-readable code using OO best practices

  • Own the quality of your team's work

  • Empower your direct reports with knowledge and opportunities to grow in their careers

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Degree emphasis in Computer Science, IT, Computer Engineering, MIS, Mathematics desired; Master’s degree in one of these areas preferred

  • Certifications and prior consulting experience highly preferred
