What we do: EY's Food Safety and Quality team provides comprehensive consulting services to address the challenges faced by food manufacturers, retailers, and other stakeholders in the supply chain. We help our clients develop and implement robust food safety management systems, comply with regulatory requirements, and manage risks effectively.

The opportunity

As a Food Safety and Quality Consulting Senior, you will play a pivotal role in helping our clients navigate the complexities of food safety and quality. You will work on projects that involve FSMA 204 compliance, risk assessments, and the development of food safety and quality management systems. Your key responsibilities

  • Lead and execute food safety and quality engagements with a focus on FSMA 204 compliance and other regulatory requirements.

  • Collaborate with clients to assess their current food safety practices and develop strategies to enhance their systems.

  • Provide expert advice on the implementation of traceability technologies and processes.

  • Build strong relationships with clients and team members, fostering a collaborative environment.

  • Manage project deliverables, ensuring high-quality services and client satisfaction.

To qualify for the role you must have

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science, Food Safety, or a related field

  • At least 2-3 years of business experience in food safety or quality, demonstrating a solid understanding of food safety regulations and quality assurance practices.

  • Knowledge of FDA, USDA and GFSI compliance requirements, including FSMA 204, and their application to the food supply chain.

  • Professional certifications related to food safety and quality (e.g., HACCP, PCQI).

  • Experience drafting and executing Food Safety Management Systems, including Food Safety Plans, HACCP Plans, Preventive Controls Programs and Prerequisite Programs.

  • Ability to travel to client sites as needed, with an anticipated travel amount of 20-50% during a given year.

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • A Master's degree in Food Science, Food Safety, or a related field

  • Experience with food safety audits (e.g., GFSI) and quality management system implementation.

  • Professional certifications related to food safety audits (e.g., GFSI Auditor)

  • Familiarity with food safety technologies and processes to support governance, traceability, and record keeping.

What we offer

We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The salary range for this job in most geographic locations in the US is $82,800 to $136,600. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $99,400 to $155,300. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Under our flexible vacation policy, you’ll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances. You’ll also be granted time off for designated EY Paid Holidays, Winter/Summer breaks, Personal/Family Care, and other leaves of absence when needed to support your physical, financial, and emotional well-being.
