Join our Core Business Services (CBS) team and you will help support the important business enablement functions that keep our organization running strong. Join our Finance team and you will help enable EY client account teams and management to run the business effectively. You’ll help to improve engagement profitability, manage enterprise wide risk and support market development activities. You will support EY planning, reporting and forecasting and analysis, or help EY people manage day-to-day activities, such as managing engagements, process and auditing time and expense or invoice processing. Who are we?

Global Planning Operations (GPO) is an integral part of the Planning, Budgeting and Financial Analysis (PBFA) pillar within EY Finance. Through partnership with Executive Layer leadership, our global team designs and administers enterprise planning and analysis solutions, and delivers insights to leaders across the organization.

Our scope includes all aspects of enterprise planning and analysis for the Market Leadership Plan (MLP), Financial Plan, Forecast, Global Revenue Plan, along with administration of Cost/NSR Rates and the Historical Pricing Tool (HPT). Primary GPO activities include business process management, tool enablement, and a variety of analytics (e.g., Mercury financial impact analysis).

The opportunity

Our Global Planning Enablement Analysts work closely with GPO Process Leads on all aspects of business process enablement. We’re looking for structured, analytical thinkers with an interest/proficiency in problem solving, and the desire/ability to become experts on enterprise planning tools and the business processes they support; those able to manage projects and processes, lead testing programs, train end users, respond to user questions and problems, and facilitate the process to resolve issues.

The role will best suit those with finance, project management and/or IT/systems support backgrounds:

  • A finance professional who wants to deepen their understanding of the tools that increasingly form the backbone of a successful finance function, along with deepening their project management skills

  • A project manager who aims to broaden their experience of business processes and tools in a finance environment

  • An IT/systems professional who has ambitions to deepen their enablement skills and broaden their experience of the business needs and processes enabled by IT tools

The role requires a strong understanding of EY financials and structures, and candidates should be keen to work with planning tools such as Oracle’s Planning Suite (Smartview, Essbase, Planning, Workforce Planning, and Financial Reporting).

In this position you will be user community focused, supporting a wide network across Service Lines in Global, Area and Region roles. You will also be highly accessible, knowledgeable and responsive, focused on building a wide network across Finance, and able to contribute to improving process and tools based on business needs.

As a member of GPO you will be a change lead in support of Program Mercury, Vision 2020+, and the global Finance Strategy, and part of a high performing team working toward best in class financial systems and business partnership. This role offers a great amount of exposure and visibility to EY’s key Finance stakeholders across Global, Area, Region and Service Line Finance teams. In exchange, you’ll be expected to leverage and share knowledge as appropriate when given opportunity to interact with senior level colleagues across the global firm.

In addition to the primary activities focused on global planning administration and enablement, GPO members also often have opportunity to engage in analytical projects to support decision making across the Enterprise.

Your key responsibilities

The job scope involves assisting in the day-to-day management of one or more business processes/GPO tools, playing a supporting role in facilitating data, configuration and reporting improvements, as well as taking a lead role in project management. This position is complex in nature, requiring knowledge of project management and enablement accountabilities across multiple work streams and the system/service delivery life cycle.

Process and project management

  • Support GPO Process Lead on development and management of enterprise level business processes, including day-to-day tracking of progress against the process timeline; ensuring adherence to plans.

  • Assist with detailed project plan development; manage on a daily basis.

  • Track status of all tasks, highlight issues and risks (create structured, timely logs and communications).

  • Support data management efforts (configuration, cross-walks, and restatements).

  • Facilitate functional testing of tools.

  • Coordinate all elements of User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

  • Develop and maintain briefing, training and operating materials to support tool communication and use.

  • Assist with preparation and facilitation of user training sessions and kick-off calls.

Enablement / Product support

  • Work with multiple teams (technical, business, operational) to support financial process integration.

  • Assist with business/functional requirement development (ensure that the tool delivers as expected).

  • Provide subject matter knowledge during workshops and training sessions.

  • Work closely with GPO Process Leads and Area Admins to ensure seamless support to user community.

  • Support regions struggling with the process and/or tools.

  • Assist in prioritization of defects and enhancements with users as appropriate.

  • Create timely communications in reporting local user issues.

  • Utilize global network to find answers to all questions and solve issues.

  • Update security configuration model as needed; assist to enable user access and security needs.

Continuous improvement

  • Serve as an advisor and sounding board for central process leads and regions.

  • Liaise with user community and key stakeholders; gather feedback on tools and processes.

  • Provide analysis and insight to support tool enhancements.

  • Work with Area and region stakeholders to understand business changes and needs and, with others in GPO, agree and deliver necessary changes to tools and processes.

  • Be a thought leader in improving the technology that supports our processes.

  • Share knowledge and skill across functional and technical areas; participate in cross-functional initiatives that may extend beyond direct area of responsibility.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Finance, project management and/or IT/systems background.

  • Structured problem-solving approach, analytical thinking.

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks/activities.

  • Strong organizational skills a must; experience with project management preferred.

  • Must be keen to work with and develop a technical understanding of planning tools.

  • Ability to build a wide network across Areas and regions, and gain their trust.

  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and client service skills; structured, accessible, responsive, flexible, and able to react appropriately under pressure.

  • Clear in explaining technical points covering both modelling tools and financials.

  • Global mindset - Ability to work virtually and flexibly across multiple countries, cultures, and time zones.

  • Ability to build a network in Global, to leverage to meet user needs and fix user issues.

  • Understanding of EY organizational and financial structures is preferred; familiarity with markets metrics and reporting would be an advantage.

  • Knowledge of SQL, .Net, and/or Oracle’s Planning Suite would be a distinct advantage.

  • Strong MS Excel modelling skills, proficiency with MS PowerPoint.

  • Fluent in English, able to lead calls in English and communicate effectively with non-native English speakers.
