Tax Advisor, International Area Desk (Asia Pacific Business Group) (Manager) (Multiple Positions) , Ernst & Young U.S. LLP, New York, NY.

Provide real-time tax advice to clients with Asia Pacific activities and operations, by assisting the clients and International Tax Services (ITS) colleagues understand the application of Asia Pacific tax law to diverse client situations through consulting on: foreign tax systems operations, Tax Accounting Risk Advisory Services (TARAS) issues, general tax technical resource and most importantly, identifying common and different concepts between the US tax law and those in the Asia Pacific countries. Help clients identify and address complex international tax issues with a focus on Asia Pacific taxation impacting investing and operating in Asia Pacific. Build on technical competence by keeping up to date on trends, developments and tax law changes in the US and Asia Pacific and apply them to complex situations.

Supervise multiple international tax engagements and contribute to the delivery of quality tax planning services for our diverse clients. Build and manage client relationships and deliver international tax services that exceed client expectations. Retain, develop and guide client service team members of the APBG by providing effective performance feedback and ensuring team responsibilities are consistent with skills and developmental goals. Provide technical guidance to engagement staff and seniors.

Build network relationships with Asia Pacific office professionals and US based colleagues. Provide insight, connectedness and responsiveness to all clients while demonstrating a good understanding of their business. Take ownership for delivery of high quality tax work. Maintain long-term client relationships and networks. Cultivate business development opportunities. Full time employment, Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week, 8:30 am – 5:30 pm.


Must have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, Economics, Tax, Law, or a related field, and 5 years of post-bachelor’s, progressive related work experience; OR a Master's Degree/JD/LLM in Accounting, Business, Finance, Economics, Tax, Law, or a related field, and 4 years of related work experience.

Of the required experience,

Must have 4 years of experience in local country and international tax or equivalent experience in business or industry;

Must have 2 years of experience in Asia Pacific regional taxation and Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS) issues;

Must have 2 years of experience in working with complex Asia Pacific tax and legal concepts and applying them to client situations;

Must have 2 years of experience in advising companies regarding tax implications of investments in Asia Pacific;

Must have 1 year of experience working in the Asia Pacific in a tax and/or legal role;

Requires travel up to 25%, including international travel, to serve client needs.

Must demonstrate oral fluency (including during Candidate Interview) in at least one Asia Pacific language, e.g., Chinese, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Thai, etc., in order to perform job duties which require communication with non-English speaking Asia Pacific clientele.
