Partner Finance Manager - UK&I
Core Business Services
Requisition # NEW00LF6
Post Date Sep 05, 2018
This is a hugely varied role suitable for individuals who thrive in a fast paced environment and are stimulated by producing work for the most senior stakeholders. The role demands a solid grounding in traditional finance tasks combined with exceptional IT skills, a desire to provide innovative solutions and excellent attention to detail.
You will support the Head of Partner Finance in the delivery of a consistently high standard of service to all profit sharing Partners of the EY UK and Irish firms. As part of the team with responsibility for administering Partner profits, your role will include ownership of the general ledger accounts which pertain to the Partner profit shares and first line approval of the transactions which underlie this. You will support the annual accounting cycle, with tasks including monthly and annual reconciliation preparation and review, billing, dealing with audit queries, etc. You will also manage the process around the Partner car scheme and link closely with the Firm’s tax team to support the payment of Partner taxes. At times you will be required to work with the wider teams within the firm in statutory accounting, tax and treasury management.
Your key responsibilities
Your priorities will be to ensure a high quality service to the Partners underpinned by a robust finance structure and effective day to day accounting. This will involve oversight of the key processes and supervision of the day to day work executed by the junior team members.
Working with the other Partner Finance Manager, you will divide primary responsibilities, but also be able to cover for each other during periods of holiday and other leave.
Skills and attributes for success
Understanding the detail whilst retaining a view of the bigger picture. Equally comfortable working at both levels and switching between the two.
Willingness to seek end to end responsibility for all key processes and ability to work closely with the other members of the team to manage and balance workload and offer support
Responsive and reliable in handling the many varied queries and information requests from the Partners, internal leadership and other key stakeholders.
Strong people and communication skills are a priority as you will be dealing with the highest level stakeholders within the firm.
Managing, counselling and developing the more junior team members.
Ability to quickly and effectively build relationships within the wider firm and leverage that network to provide the flexible solutions required.
Ability to function effectively when under pressure and maintain a positive mind-set
To qualify for the role you must have
The role requires you to be a qualified accountant with several years post qualification experience.
Strong Excel skills are also a key part of the role as macros and data analysis are central to many tasks assigned.
Desire and drive to see things through to their conclusion, taking responsibility for task completion and for following up on outstanding items including influencing others in a positive manner.
Skilled in appropriately prioritising tasks and workload within the team to meet the changing needs of the business and respond to ad hoc requests without losing sight of the many tasks arising from the underlying annual cycle.
Ideally, you’ll also have
Experience in a similar environment dealing with senior stakeholders and the ability to flex communications to suit an audience
Experience of working within and managing teams
A proven track record in dealing with tight deadlines and pressure and demonstrable skills and tactics in dealing with this.
What we look for
Your current or previous role will be finance based. This could be a broader based role than internal finance and could include audit, insurance etc. You will have knowledge and/or experience of management accounts and have excellent numerical reasoning skills. We are looking for you to adopt a flexible mind-set and have the willingness and curiosity to understand the complex processes involved in Partner Finance including the detail at every level of each transaction.
