The opportunity

As a Consultant within the Risk Assurance team you will provide clients with a candid and reliable overview of their risk landscape and the controls in place. You will work with clients as an IT risk and audit professional to provide confidence in their financial reporting processes and internal control environment, assess the effective design and operation of key controls and provide industry/sector relevant insights and thought leadership.

Your key responsibilities

  • Identify key risk areas within the client organisation associated with IT governance, information security, change management, and IT operations – and make suggestions to assist a client in managing these risks.

  • IT Assurance/ Financial Audit support - including the execution of evaluating the design and operation of IT controls (e.g. application & general controls) in support of an external audit.

  • Internal Audits – including the execution of audits of IT processes against leading practice IT risk and security frameworks and common standards (e.g. CoBIT, ITIL, ISO 27001/02), process mapping and data analytics.

  • Service Organisation Controls reporting and agreed upon procedures reviews against standards such as ISAE/ASAE3402/SSAE16.

  • IT Program / Project Assurance – including the facilitation of project definition documentation that upholds the prudency and efficiency principles and detailing scope, timing, cost, resourcing, quality and risk.

Skills and attributes for success

To be successful in this role you will possess or perform the following:

  • Ability to work effectively as a team member by sharing responsibility, developing and coaching junior staff, delegating to others, providing support, communicating effectively and updating senior team members on progress.

  • Participating in risk assurance and other risk advisory engagements including a variety of compliance and performance improvement focused reviews.

  • Collating observations, preparing workpapers, determining and agreeing recommendations for improvement and reporting to key client stakeholders, including senior management and the Audit Committee.

  • You will work with the team and client to create plans for accomplishing engagement objectives and an approach that complies with professional standards. You will help clients to understand and manage risk and validate the effectiveness of the underlying control environment.

To qualify for the role you must have

  • Experience with a globally/nationally recognised blue chip, government or professional services firm or large corporation in IT Audit/IT Risk

  • 2 years + experience in an IT Audit / IT Risk professional role having applied relevant technical knowledge across:

  • (a) financial statement audits;

  • (b) internal audits, including process mapping and data analytics;

  • (c) ISAE/ASAE3402/ SSAE16 certification;

  • (d) IT program/project assurance;

  • (e) IT disaster recovery / business continuity; and/or

  • (f) IT security control reviews

  • Demonstrated project management and relationship building capabilities

  • Strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills

  • A demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team

  • A relevant Bachelor's and/or Post Graduate qualification (Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, and/or CISA will be highly regarded)

  • Australian citizenship and the eligibility for security clearance
